WEIRTON — The Weirton All Saints Greek Orthodox Church Women’s Society, Philoptochos, is taking orders for its Holiday Bake Sale.
As in the past, this is a pre-order only Greek pastry sale. A variety of Greek pastries are being featured, including baklava; finikia. or honey cookies; halva, or honey cake; karidopita, or walnut cake; kourambiedes, or powdered sugar cookies; and koulourakia, or twist cookies. Chocolate fudge also will be available.
Pastry orders are being taken until Nov. 6. Orders can be picked up on Nov. 22 at All Saints Hellenic Memorial Hall, located at 3528 West St. in Weirton.
All orders will be pre-packaged, officials stated. When placing an order, a designated pick-up time will be assigned. Orders can be placed online at allstswwv.org or by calling the church office from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday at (304)797-9884.
This year, the Philoptochos Society has added “Yiayia’s Kitchen,” which includes kitchen items and serving pieces that are in good to excellent condition.
These items will be offered for sale on the pickup day. Philoptochos will use the proceeds from the sale for local philanthropic purposes, organizers commented.
