Church to host baby shower
STEUBENVILLE — St. John Evangelist Catholic Church Altar and Rosary will host a baby shower to benefit the AIM Women’s Center at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 6 in the parish hall.
All women are invited to attend and asked to bring an unwrapped baby gift. Monetary donations will be accepted. Proceeds will benefit new mothers who are unable to provide clothing, blankets and diapers for their newborns, according to organizers. Dessert will be served following the meeting. Anyone who is unable to attend but would like to donate, can bring items to the parish office.
Book on Weirton Steel available
WEIRTON — “The Final Day of Weirton Steel,” a new book released by local Weirton author Tom Zielinsky, is out for purchase at the Historic Fort Steuben gift shop and on Saturdays at the Weirton Area Museum and Cultural Center.
This is Zielinsky’s third book about the former steel mill. His other two books entitled “The Final Days of Weirton Steel,” also are available for purchase.
JCRTA to meet
WINTERSVILLE — The Jefferson County Retired Teacher Association will hold its business meeting at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 12 at the Wintersville Methodist Church. June Logan, ORTA liaison, will provide updates to the group. The Steubenville High School Crimson Fusion Choir will perform Christmas music. A catered meal will follow.
