Back in the frontier day
Photos provided by Historic Fort Steuben representatives offer a few glimpses of its annual Ohio Valley Frontier Days celebration held Aug. 6-7. For more than 30 years, Historic Fort Steuben has brought together soldier, surveyor, settler and Native American re-enactors along with crafters, musicians, and speakers for a festival celebrating life on the Ohio Valley frontier. This year included an expansion of offerings to two other historic sites in the downtown area, including the main branch of the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County and the Jefferson County Historical Museum. New this year was an encampment and demonstrations of 18th century military equipment and weaponry by the Brigade of the American Revolution, a national group of re-enactors and historians.
