Cadiz Women’s Golf League

The Cadiz Women’s Golf League held its fifth opening day scramble on May 4 at the Cadiz Country Club. The scramble was followed by a happy hour, dinner and business meeting. Currently the group has 37 members.

The first-place scramble team was Jan Schultz, Diane Berardinelli and Cathy Jackson. In second place was the team of Tracy Amos, Carole Patton and Angie Sapon.

Skill prizes were as follows: Closest to the pin, second shot, Jan Schultz; closest to the flamingo, Diane Berardinelli; longest putt, Tamar Dulaney; closest to the pin, Bonnie Beetham; longest drive, Kathy Smith; and closest to the zig zag line, Nep Rowland.

The hostesses for May 11 were to be Patty Stewart and Sandy Terek with the play of the day being lowest score minus putts.

Highland Springs Ladies League

The Highland Springs Ladies League played the back nine on May 9 with the play of the day being “Throw out Your Worst Two Holes.”

The winners were: Ruth Lamantia, first place; Dotty Virtue, second place; and Denise Augustine, third place. Yuko Atwell had the longest drive on hole No. 18 and had a chip-in on hole No. 14 for a birdie. Brenda McClosky took the honor of closest to the pin on the second shot on hole No. 14. Dotty Virtue had the lowest number of putts for the round.

This nine-hole league is open to all women golfers. Play is each Monday from May through September at Highland Springs Golf Course in Wellsburg. Tee-off is at 5 p.m. Call the club house at (304) 737-2201 to sign up on the day of play, no later than 3:30 p.m.

Spring Hills Ladies Golf League

Opening day for the 2022 season of the Spring Hills Ladies Golf Legaue was May 5.

The play of the day was a scramble. The winning team was Cindy Vidas, Tammy Cox and Pat Carey.

Long drive winners were: A flight, Terri Barkley; B flight, Brenda McCloskey; and C flight, Pat Carey. Chip-in was Tammy Cox. Dru Fleishour won the 50-50 drawing.

Town and Country

Town and Country Golf had its first play date May 5 and welcomed new members Cathy Jackson, Michele Purviance and Diane Van Dyne.

The women played a scramble with one mulligan. Winners were the team of Laura Froehlich, Dora Elizaga and Nancy Lelli, and second place was the team of Cathy Jackson, Michele Purviance, Norma Henson and Toni Jean Dondzila.

New members are welcome to show up on Thursdays at Spring Hills Golf Club for a 10 a.m. tee time.

Other winners were:

Long drive hole No. 3: A flight, Vicki Brozka; B flight, Pat Zorne; and C flight, Shirley Guida.

Long drive hole No. 6: A flight, Froehlich and B flight, Dondzila.
