Funseekers plan Valentine mixer exchange for Feb. 2 meeting

HELPED TOYS FOR TOTS CAMPAIGN — The Funseekers did their part to make Christmas a more joyful experience for children in need by providing toys that were donated to the Toys for Tots campaign. WEIRTON — President Judi Gaynor welcomed 75 members and guests when the Funseekers met Dec. 1 at Undo’s in Weirton.

Gaynor acknowledged December and January birthdays and anniversaries. Carl Truax opened the meeting with a holiday blessing, the Pledge of Allegiance and the singing of “God Bless America.”

Gaynor reminded members that there would be no meeting in January.

Brian Herchuck, Tabitha Herchuck and Bruce Hornick, members of the Tri-State Marine Corps Club, were introduced by Funseeker members Bill Shipe and Charlie Green to accept a collection of toys and gift cards for donation to Toys for Tots.

The donated toys were to be distributed in Brooke, Hancock and Jefferson counties. The Marines thanked the club for their support of the toy drive, and Funseekers representatives thanked the Marines for attending the meeting and transporting the donations.

The Super Bowl board was sold by John Balzano. Winners will be notified and announced at the March meeting.

DeJaVue entertained with a selection of holiday, oldies and dance music.

Barbara Jean Losey coordinated individual favors, table decorations and presented door prizes of gift cards, boxes of candy and assorted wines.

Door prize winners were Laura Mamula, George Pohlman, Jane Wilson, Barbara Purks, Larry Bauer, Lola Swanagan, Gene Viola, George Williams, Carl Truax, Terry Theine, Les Stuckmeyer, Mary Lou Rossi, Lee Lewis, Kathy DeBenedetto, John Balzano, Elizabeth Shipe, Sondra Nestor, Walter Klepadlo and Okey Nestor.

Winners of Undo gift certificates were Charlotte Christian and Frank Wisnieski.

Linda Aloi won the wreath made by Regina Truax. Barbara Jean Losey and Linda Aloi won the 50/25/25 drawing.

The next meeting is scheduled for Feb. 2 at Undo’s in Weirton. Ron Retzer will be the entertainment. John and Donna Balzano will present door prizes.

A Valentine mixer exchange is planned for the meeting. Each member and guest is asked to bring a Valentine card. The Valentine should be signed on the card and sealed in an envelope. The outside of the envelope should be blank. Callers will be calling all members for reservations and explain the meeting plans.

Tour Director Regina Truax reported a trip schedule will be available in February.

An executive board meeting was held on Jan. 13 at Aloha Delights. The board reviewed the by-laws and the plans and schedule for 2022. Several options will be discussed at the February meeting. Members are encouraged to attend to have their voices heard.
