Natural gas payment stub

workshop scheduled Nov. 3

STEUBENVILLE — More and more natural gas wells are appearing in Jefferson County. Many landowners are expecting to receive or are already receiving royalty checks in the mail, but these checks are not always easy to understand, according to a news release from the local OSU Extension office.

A “Natural Gas Payment Stub Workshop” for landowners will be held on Nov. 3 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Karaffa Recreation Center, 1307 Dennis Way, Toronto.

Participants will learn from OSU Extension Educator Dan Lima about calculating royalty payments, reading a royalty check and using available data from the Ohio Division of Natural Resources webpage to estimate royalties.

“If you are currently leasing or considering leasing your property for shale development, this is a great opportunity to learn about available resources, how calculations are made and what your royalty payment stubs mean,” an Extension spokesperson noted.

Cost of the event is $5/person, and pre-registration is required. Register by Nov. 2 at go.osu.edu/21jeffpaymentstub. Questions can be directed to Erika Lyon by phone at (740) 461-6136 or by e-mail to lyon.194@osu.edu with questions.
