‘Powerful vocalists’ in lineup for Saturday Sycamore concert
STEUBENVILLE — This Saturday’s Sycamore Summer Concert series will feature River Rock festival champion artist Rachel DeLong from New Hampshire, 2020 Valley’s Got Talent soloist winner Nathan Bauman and Autumn Duckworth of Weirton, Valley’s Got Talent and Weirton talent competition winner.
The concert will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Sycamore Youth Center at 301 N. Fourth St., Steubenville. Cafe Sy Coffee House will provide coffee, tea, soda and baked goods with donations welcomed and appreciated.
The concert is free and open to all ages.

National Kids Day returns
Aug. 13 to Brooke Hills Park
WELLSBURG — Brooke Hills Park will again celebrate National Kids Day with free swimming, hot dogs, a watermelon race and other games from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Aug. 13.
There also will be prize drawings.
Backpack and Resource fair
for Brooke, Hancock families
WEIRTON — The families of students in Brooke and Hancock county schools are invited to the 10th-annual Brooke Hancock Backpack and Resource Fair to be held by the Brooke-Hancock Family Resource Network and involving various organizations serving local families.
Held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 7 at the Weirton Event Center, it will include free school supplies for local students, food for sale and entertainment.
Brooke, Follansbee library sites offering activity bags
The Brooke County Public Library and its Follansbee branch are offering assorted activity packs this month.
They include an Olympic-themed craft, an “I Am” collage kit, a tote bag that may be colored by adults or young adults and a seashell picture frame kit that will require a glue gun.

Fish frys on Fridays benefit

COLLIERS — The Colliers Fire Department Auxiliary holds fish frys for take-out from its kitchen at 341 Pennsylvania Ave. from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. each Friday. In addition to breaded fish and fries, the menu includes many other entrees and appetizers, including shrimp, chicken strips and hot dogs.
Wellsburg OES honors three members for years of service
WELLSBURG — The Wellsburg Order of Eastern Star held its July meeting with Worthy Matron Shirley Mushet and Worthy Patron James Williams in charge.
Three members were honored for their years of service. Elizabeth McCuen, past matron, presented pins and certificates to Naomi Amos, past matron, and Dolores McFadden for 60 years and Teresa Betty Rea, past matron, for 65 years.
The next meeting will be held Aug. 10, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
