Weirton club gets center update
WEIRTON — The Weirton Woman’s Club, a member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs of West Virginia met in March for its general meeting.
President Jeanne Amidon welcomed members and guests.
Patty Kaminski gave the inspiration.
The program for the evening was presented by Savannah Schroll Guz, president and executive director of the Weirton Area Museum and Cultural Center.
She spoke about upcoming events at the museum, including the Smithsonian Traveling Exhibition, “Crossroads: Changes in Rural America;” the West Virginia Humanities Council and National Endowment for the Humanities’ grant awarded to put Weirton Steel employees Bulletin archive online; the return of the Ohio Valley Cloak and Dagger theater to live audiences; the Marlinn Carousel restoration unveiling in the fall; and Shakespeare at the Museum under development with Bobby Zinsmeister.
The club’s next meeting will be in April with the executive board session at 5:15 p.m. and general meeting at 6:30 p.m. at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church. The evening program will be presented by Molly Mossor, committee chair of Women’s History and Resource Center for the club.
