Jobs for Life program

has informational

sessions scheduled

STEUBENVILLE — Urban Mission Ministries’ Jobs for Life program has scheduled informational sessions this month for prospective students and mentors.

The Jobs for Life program is a work readiness program that utilizes mentors to engage its students, explained Kelly Jeffers, director of new initiatives for Urban Mission.

The student informational session will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on April 12 at the War Memorial Building, 423 North St., Steubenville.

“This session will be for any person who is interested in becoming a student of the Jobs for Life program,” Jeffers said. “Jobs for Life is for anyone who needs a fresh start in life, a new beginning, and a pathway to employment. Jobs for Life is a two-month commitment in a classroom setting. The program is widely recognized in our area, and there are many businesses that would love to hire our graduates,” Jeffers added of the program that has been “thriving in our community since 2017.

“This is more than a job readiness program; this is a whole life transformation that leads to employment,” she said.

The mentor information session will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on April 13 at the War Memorial Building.

Mentors typically are retirees or people who have three to four daylight hours per week to invest. “Becoming a mentor in the program will be one of the most rewarding investments you can ever make as a volunteer,” Jeffers said. Mentors are those who bring to the program spiritual and personal maturity, Christian faith, love and the willingness to work with a diverse group of people, according to Jeffers.

“If you’d like to learn more about this opportunity to grow as a person and help someone to reach their goals in life, come to our session for mentors,” Jeffers said.
