STEUBENVILLE — The Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County is celebrating Women’s History Month in March in several special ways.

One of those involves a display at the Schiappa Branch of a mannequin dressed with discarded book pages and 42 pictures of famous women throughout history.

“You could win the grand prize of a Kindle Fire 7 or place second and win a book about women in history by matching each woman’s picture to a description on a handout,” explained Jennifer Cesta, the library’s public relations coordinator. The contest is for all ages.

Another way to observe Women in History Month, Cesta pointed out, is to visit the library’s Facebook page at facebook.com/steubenvillelibrary for Trivia Tuesday each week as the accomplishments of women from the local area are highlighted.

In addition to those two features, people can visit the library’s event page on the website, steubenvillelibrary.org for an online program about women in history.

“Educational entertainer Martina Mathisen presents this engaging program with a fascinating look at dynamic women who impacted our lives,” Cesta said. “The women represented were doing big things, secret things and even dangerous things. Some were well known, others not well known, each marvelously expressing themselves and their passions,” added Cesta. “Come see living history for yourself.”
