Harrisville UMC is producing

two online Christmas specials

HARRISVILLE — Harrisville United Methodist Church will be producing two online Christmas specials this month.

The first presentation is a Christmas cantata that will premiere on its Facebook page at 2 p.m. on Sunday. The cantata will feature Rod Bowers, Pat and Sally Patton, Denise Rector, Arnulfo and Rebekah Rios, Dan and Nikki Smallwood and Ken Staley with accompaniment by Bob Campbell, bass guitar; Dustin Kinsey, keyboard; Curt Householder, guitar; and Ken Staley, guitar.

Pat Patton is the technical director/editor, and Dan Smallwood is the stage manager/technical assistant. Dustin Kinsey will provide the narration.

This event will be held in conjunction with the Adena Lions Club. Love offerings for the Adena and Dillonvale Food Pantries can be made payable to the Adena Lions Club — write Food Pantries on the memo line — and mailed by Dec. 15 to 42 E. Main St., Adena, OH 43901.

On Dec. 13 at 6 p.m., the Harrisville UMC will present the Brian Dawes-Dustin Kinsey Christmas Show 2020 featuring Dawes on bass guitar and Kinsey on keyboard. The Dawes-Kinsey Christmas Show will offer a variety of music, from fun and upbeat to sacred and inspiring.

The church’s Facebook web address is https://www.facebook.com/HarrisvilleOhioUMC/.

The cantata and the Dawes-Kinsey Christmas Show will remain on the church’s Facebook page throughout the Christmas season.

“For obvious reasons, our 30-person community choir could not come together this year for the cantata; so instead, the Harrisville UMC family is offering some solos and duets to accompany the wonderful Christmas message of hope and salvation,” Kinsey explained.

The Dawes-Kinsey Christmas Show, meanwhile, will be” a great way to spend an hour. My father-in-law, Brian, and I are very much looking forward to doing the show,” he noted.

In addition to the cantata and Christmas show, the Harrisville UMC, in partnership with the Pleasant Grove UMC, will be presenting an online Christmas Eve service that will be posted at noon on Christmas Eve but can be watched any time after that.

For information on any of the events, contact Dustin Kinsey by phone at (740) 391-6052 or by e-mail to dkinsey86@comcast.net.

Having celebrated its 175 anniversary last year, Harrisville UMC seeks to provide Christ’s hope of salvation and be a light to the greater Harrisville community, according to a news release. Since the pandemic began, Harrisville UMC, in conjunction with the Pleasant Grove UMC, have offered weekly Sunday morning online services on their Facebook page and on GoToMeeting complete with live music. Other offerings in 2020 have included a weekly online Kids Bits series, outdoor services, Tuesday morning prayer, Wednesday night online Bible study, an online Memorial Day service, Trunk-or-Treat and an opportunity to serve on a mission trip to central West Virginia.
