STEUBENVILLE — The Philoptochos Society of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Steubenville has been donating to various charities throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

Donations have included money benefiting Valley Hospice, the Ohio Valley Health Center, Trinity Emergency Assistance Relief fund, MacPad, Jefferson County MRDD, Special Olympics, YWCA summer projects, Urban Mission Back-to-School outreach, the A.L.I.V.E. shelter and Women In Action Against Cancer Coalition of Jefferson County.

The most recent meeting was held in November at the Steubenville Country Club where donations were made to the Salvation Army of Steubenville, Urban Mission Ministries and the Friendship Room. Funds for the donations were generated from the recent gyro sale at the church.

A Christmas dinner is scheduled for Dec. 3 at the Steubenville Country Club with donations to be sent to the Warming Center and Friendship Room.

Philoptochos is defined as the “friend of the poor.”
