Kent State University recently conferred degrees to summer graduates during virtual commencement exercises Aug. 15. The university awarded 228 associate degrees, 616 bachelor’s degrees and 351 graduate degrees to students.

Of the 351 bachelor’s degree students graduating with academic honors, 31 earned summa cum laude distinction with a 3.8 to 4.0 grade point average, while 107 were magna cum laude (3.60 to 3.79) and 68 were cum laude (3.3 to 3.59).

Local students graduating were: Ashlee Slutz, Bowerston, magna cum laude; Eric Zalenski, Cadiz; Joseph Nemitt, Toronto; and Jennifer Beal, Madisen Hurst, Wendy Ralston and Sean Tipton, all of Steubenville.
