Brooke Library’s StoryWalk

program for youth continuing

WELLSBURG — Young visitors to the Brooke County Public Library can read a story told in segments printed on several signs in front of the Brooke County Public Library as the library’s StoryWalk continues through the remainder of October.

Library Director Alexandra Schneider said the concept was developed by another librarian, Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, Vt., in collaboration with the Vermont Bicycle and Pedestrian Coalition and the Kellogg-Hubbard Library, and its name is a registered service mark owned by Ferguson.

Schneider said there are plans to hold StoryWalks in April and July to coincide with Easter and Independence Day.

Since Halloween is coming up, the story for this month’s walk is Julia Donaldson“s “Room on the Broom.”

Families attending a kickoff for the walk were invited to wear costumes and have their photos taken for a contest. The photos will be displayed in the library so visitors can vote on their favorites.

Schneider added library staff will be invited to don costumes from Oct. 26 to 31, with photos of them to be posted so visitors may vote on them from Nov. 3 through 9.
