Weirton church

hosting garage sale

WEIRTON — The Seventh Day Adventist Church, located at 600 Colliers Way, Weirton, will be hosting a three-day indoor fundraiser garage sale.

It will be held today and Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on Sunday from noon to 3 p.m.

The sale will feature a variety of items, according to a church spokesperson.

Tina Tolonese featured

October artist at fort

STEUBENVILLE — Tina Tolonese of Moundsville is the Steubenville Art Association’s featured member-artist for October at Historic Fort Steuben with works in the lobby at 120 S. Third St.

Tolonese has a variety of two-dimensional media represented — graphite, colored-pencil and acrylics, with depictions of florals, still-life, landscapes and architecture.

Interested in art all her life, Tolonese took oil painting and drawing classes at Ohio University Eastern in St. Clairsville while completing her degree in social work. She also took classes for three years at the Center of Music and Art with SAA member, artist and teacher Gerald Van Scyoc.

Employed in the Ohio County Schools by Crittenton Services, she services prekindergarten and kindergarten pupils. Tolonese also is one of the Steubenville Art Association’s trustees.

Book club to discuss ‘Coast of Chicago’

WELLSBURG — The Brooke County Public Library book club will meet at 5 p.m. Oct. 29 to discuss “The Coast of Chicago” by Stuart Dybek.

Participants will receive the November book at the meeting. The club is free and open to the public.

thank-you event set

STEUBENVILLE — RSVP will be holding a drive-through thank-you event from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 30 at the office of the United Way of Jefferson County, located at 511 N. Fourth St.

“Even though service looked different this year, we’re so thankful for you,” a promotional flier notes.

“Come out and collect your recognition gift.”

World Community Day to be held Nov. 6

WEIRTON — World Community Day, sponsored by Church Women United of Weirton, will be observed at 11 a.m. on Nov. 6 at the Shiloh Apostolic Faith Assembly Church, located at 3000 Weir Ave.

The theme will be “2020 Vision for the Future — Resolve to Love.”

The project will be snacks for the afterschool program at the Weirton Christian Center.

Following the celebration, a tea will be held in the fellowship hall.
