Ghost stories to be shared as part of Brooke Library event

WELLSBURG — Former news reporter and editor Judi Tarowsky will share ghost stories collected by Patrick Gainer, James G. Jones and Mack Samples as well as some of her own in a recorded presentation to be live streamed by the Brooke County Public Library at 1 p.m. on Thursday.

Brilliant Legion Auxiliary to hold cornhole tournament

BRILLIANT — The Brilliant American Legion Auxiliary will be holding a cornhole tournament on Saturday at the Brilliant American Legion, 210 Market St.

The fundraising event will be double elimination. The registration fee is $30 per team or $15 for a single player. Single players will be partnered on the day of the event. Registration and warm-up will begin at noon. The competition starts at 1 p.m.

There will be cash prizes for first- and second-place finishers. A cash bar, food and 50/50 drawings will be available for purchase.

Library announces dates

for two flu shot clinics

STEUBENVILLE — The Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County has announced the following events at its various locations, including:

A flu shot clinic will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Sept. 24. The shots will be administered by the CVS Pharmacy in Steubenville. Participants should bring their insurance and prescription cards. Most insurances are accepted. Otherwise, the cost is $40 for the flu shot.

It’s Library Card Sign-up Month. Individuals can stop by the library to register for a library card, pick up books and barbecue food. Double D’s BBQ food truck will be in the library’s parking lot from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
