Church Women United
executive board holds meeting
WEIRTON — The Sept. 4 executive board meeting of Church Women United was held at Shiloh Apostolic Faith Assembly, 3000 Weir Ave. Second Vice President Gerri Harbaugh welcomed the women and opened the meeting with prayer.
A moment of silent prayer was observed in memory of Karen Tate and Marge DiClemente. The group sang “In Times Like These.” Devotions were given by President Rebecca “Tish” Turner, drawing on scripture from Ephesians 5:16 and the meaning behind “redeeming the time.” Turner noted scripture instructs being diligent about doing good and using time well. “Sitting at a red light, we can pray for our neighbor. Mopping the floor, we can worship in song. At a restaurant, we can leave an extra big tip with a gospel tract” were among the suggestions.
Reports were given by Ronda Krebs, recording secretary, with a roll call of six churches represented; Helen Jeter, correspondence; JoAnn Morrison, treasurer; and Isobel Bell, publicity. New Begining backpacks were brought to the meeting.
The next board meeting will be held at 10 a.m. on Oct. 2 at Oakland Presbyterian Church, Wylie Ridge Road.
Birthdays were acknowledged.
Fellowship of the Least Coin was collected. Corless Brown, host church, had the closing prayer.
