Sycamore Summer Camp sign-ups under way
Sign-ups are in progress for the Sycamore Summer Camp, which will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 10-14 for students in kindergarten through grade eight as of the 2019-20 school year. To sign up, visit www.sycamorecenter.com/summer-camp-sign-ups. Classes include vocal music, band, arts and crafts, drama, outdoor games, basketball, cheerleading and Bible class. “The Family Recovery Center of Jefferson County will be giving drug prevention classes, and we also will be partnering with the Urban Mission helping them fill their 1,000-plus backpacks for the Back-to-School Bash with school supplies,” noted Bobbyjon Bauman, Sycamore Youth Center director. “It is a great opportunity for the kids, and we will be following the state guidelines as of Aug 10 concerning COVID prevention measures.” The camp is the week before school starts and is free of charge. Each participant will receive a free camp T-shirt and a free light breakfast and lunch each day. The lunch will be provided by Harding Middle School through its summer food program. “We have more than 80 signed up already and 25 leaders in place.” Looking forward to the outreach are leaders, from left, Shayna Blackwell, Marlita Hendricks, Shanyia King and Kamille Lewis.
