Bloomingdale festivities start

tonight with weiner roast

BLOOMINGDALE — “Let’s Celebrate America’s Freedom Together” is the theme of Bloomingdale’s July 4 holiday celebration that kicks off tonight with a flag-raising ceremony at 6 p.m. and a free community weiner roast beginning at 6:30 p.m.

A schedule of July 4 festivities includes: 2:30 p.m., Big Wheel race; 3 p.m. plunger race; 3:30 p.m., “Anything that Moves” with lineup at the top of county Road 39; 4 p.m., “Anything that Moves” parade; 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., live music, New Age Adenas; 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., inflatables from Movin and Groovin; and 10 p.m., fireworks.

A 50-50 drawing will be held before the fireworks, according to a promotional flier that notes there also will be frozen T-shirt contest and Jell-O contest.

“The Make A Difference Committee wants to thank everyone for all the support through the years by giving back to you. This year, no charge for the inflatables,” the flier reads.

Virtual story hours continue

WELLSBURG — The Brooke County Library will present live fantasy-themed story hours through videoconferencing on the following dates: mermaids, noon July 6 and 11 a.m. July 8; unicorns, noon July 13 and 11 a.m. July 15; giants, noon July 20 and 11 a.m. July 22; and wizards, noon July 27 and 11 a.m. July 19.

The story hours also may be viewed at other times. Those wanting a story pack to accompany the programs should call (304) 737-1551 or visit wellsburg.lib.wv.us.newsletter2.htm. The libraries also will be offering grab-and-go activity bags, including hieroglyphic door hangers that involve some decoding, unicorn dreamcatchers and a notebook with ideas for unlocking one’s creativity. Auxiliary Gift Shop having sale

WEIRTON — The Weirton Medical Center Auxiliary Gift Shop will hold a 25-percent off summer wraps and scarves sale July 6-10 from 11 a.m.to 5 p.m. The gift shop is open on Mondays through Fridays but closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
