Veterans outreach breakfast Feb. 26 to focus on VA Mission Act community care
STEUBENVILLE — The Jefferson County Veterans Service Commission will host its first outreach breakfast of 2020 with this one scheduled for Feb. 26.
It will begin at 10 a.m. and continue until noon on the second-floor conference room of the Towers building at 500 Market St., Steubenville.
“This outreach will focus on community care covered by the Veterans Administration Mission Act,” explained Schelley A. Brooks, the commission executive director.
“We are closing the office that morning from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., “ she said.
Dr. Jason Fay from the Veterans Administration Healthcare System will be presenting information and answering questions, according to Brooks, who said all area veterans are welcome.
An RSVP is strongly encouraged, she added, with those planning to attend urged to call (740) 283-8571 and leave a message after 5 p.m. to RSVP by Feb. 24. Breakfast will be served.
In addition to the informational session led by Fay, the outreach also will provide an opportunity for veterans to meet the staff and the Jefferson County Veterans Service Commissioners, ask questions and get information.
Future events also will be highlighted, including an outreach breakfast on Aug. 26 and the Sept. 26 Resource Fair and Veteran of the Year ceremony.
The outreach events are designed to be a forum in which to exchange ideas and needs, promote friendship and understand what the veterans service office offers.
The commission office, located in Suite 310, is open from 8:30 a.m. to noon and from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays. It is closed during the afternoon on the second Wednesday of the month for the commission meeting.
