Farmers’ Breakfast Series on Feb. 21

STEUBENVILLE — The Ohio State University Extension will host the next session of its ongoing Farmers’ Breakfast Series on Feb. 21 at the OSU Extension Jefferson County office, located in suite 512 at 500 Market St., Steubenville.

The monthly sessions began in January and continue through April, running from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and covering farm management topics for local producers and providing opportunities for networking with local farmers, agencies and industry experts.

February’s topic will cover property considerations for those contemplating getting started with crops or livestock. “Trying to decide what to do with your land? Then this session is for you,” notes a news release from Erika Lyon, agriculture and natural resources educator, OSU Extension Jefferson and Harrison counties.

“We will cover the space requirements of different livestock species and crops, building costs, regulations, renovation and lime application and more,” she explained.

Future sessions will include topics on hemp production in Ohio and record keeping and farm accounting ledgers.

The cost of each session is $5 and includes breakfast. Pre-registration is required and can be done by contacting the OSU Extension office at (740) 264-2212 or sending an e-mail to lyon.194@osu.edu one week before each session. Questions about other farm management subjects can be directed to Lyon at the same number.
