Extension offering winter grapevine pruning workshop Feb. 27
STEUBENVILLE — For those interested to learn about winter injury and pruning techniques specifically for grapes, the Ohio State University Extension and Jeff Copeland are partnering to present a hands-on winter grapevine pruning workshop.
It will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Feb. 27 at Summersong Vineyard and cover the basics of winter management for grapevines, according to Erika Lyon, agriculture and natural resources educator, OSU Extension, Jefferson and Harrison counties. Anyone who grows grapes in the backyard or on a commercial scale is encouraged to attend.
Summersong Vineyard is located at 46375 Old Hopedale Road, Cadiz. The cost of the event is $5 per person, and pre-registration is required by Feb. 24 by contacting OSU Extension, Jefferson County at (740) 264-2212 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org. Participants are advised to dress for the weather as the class will be held outdoors and walking in the snow may be required. In the event of cancellation due to weather conditions, participants will be contacted and refunded the registration fee.
