of programs and activities
STEUBENVILLE — The Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County has announced the following programs scheduled at its various locations:

Adults: Learn how to use the library’s free database, “Job and Career Accelerator,” on Feb. 19 at 11:30 a.m. Call to register.
“Leading the Way” book club will meet for discussion on Feb. 19 at 11:30 a.m. Call to join. This book club is in partnership with Trinity Health System and the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce.
Children: Play and Learn the Alphabet, for caregivers with children ages 2-6, is scheduled for Feb. 17 at 11 a.m.

Adults and teens: Author John Haigh Sr. will share his experience as a member of the Air Force One flight crew for 13 years during a presentation and book signing at 6 p.m. on Feb. 17. Haigh, who wrote “Air Force One: An Honor, Privilege, and Pleasure to Serve,” served during the last 16 months of the Jimmy Carter administration; eight years with President Ronald Reagan, 19 months of which were served as his chief steward; and three and one-half years as chief steward for President George H. W. Bush. Copies of the book can be purchased at the library that evening.

‘Boots to Business’ starting
Feb. 20 and is free for veterans
CHARLESTON — The West Virginia Department of Agriculture’s new Veteran Education Training Series will present its first session, “Boots to Business,” at the West Virginia Small Farm Conference on Feb. 20 in Charleston.
The program’s goal is to make agriculture training accessible to veterans, new and beginning farmers, hobbyists and budding professionals, by offering introductory courses in flexible, abbreviated segments around the state.
Courses will be taught by industry experts and will include a mix of classroom and hands-on activities as well as farm tours. Certificates will be awarded for each full course completed and may be recognized for college credit. They are free to veterans.

Brooke County Library offers
help with basic computer skills
WELLSBURG — Those seeking help with basic computer skills, such as creating and using e-mail, or using smartphones and other e-devices may stop by the Brooke County Public Library from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday.
Attendees may bring their own charged device, such as smartphone or tablet, or use one of the library’s computers.
Instruction is provided by a representative of the West Virginia University Extension Office or library staff. Call (304) 737-1551 to register for the free instruction.
Dungeons and Dragons Club

WELLSBURG — The Brooke County Library Dungeons and Dragons Club for adults will meet from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and Feb. 24.

Brooke County Senior Center
to hold spring fling March 28
FOLLANSBEE — The Brooke County Senior Center will hold its annual Spring Fling from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. March 28 at St. Francis Centre, 805 Lee Road.
The cost is $60 per couple for the event, which includes a buffet dinner and dancing to live music. There also will be drawings and a Chinese auction.

Purse bash set for April 25
WELLSBURG — The Wellsburg Baseball and Softball Association will hold a Purse Bash, with drawings for assorted designer purses every 15 minutes, April 25 at the Wellsburg Banquet Hall.
Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., with the drawings to be held from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Admission is $30, which includes dinner and refreshments. A wine bar will be available.
Prizes must be claimed within 30 days of the event.
