Adena Lions to present cantata
ADENA — The Adena Lions Club will be presenting its annual Christmas cantata on Sunday at two times and two locations.
There will be a 2 p.m. presentation at St. Casimir’s Catholic Church in Adena and a 7 p.m. presentation at the Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church. This year, the choir will be presenting a new cantata — “The Greatest Story Ever Told” — which was created by Dennis and Nan Allen.
Admission to the cantata is free, and there is open seating. A monetary love offering will be collected with 100 percent of the collection going to the Adena and Dillonvale food pantries. There will be refreshments following the 7 p.m. presentation.
“We are very excited to debut a new musically exciting and spiritually powerful presentation this year,” noted Dustin Kinsey, cantata director.
“The funds to purchase this cantata actually came from some of the memorial contributions made in memory of my Grandma Emma Kinsey earlier this year. Christian music and our annual cantata were very important to her,” Kinsey explained. “This new musical is a great way to honor her but more importantly to honor Christ as we share the Christmas message with the community.”
The cantata is a 60-minute musical presentation that aims to capture the beauty and wonder of the Christmas message and season. It has been performed at various locations since its inception in 1986. This year, there are 32 participants representing eight different churches. For information about the cantata, contact Dustin Kinsey at (740) 391-6052 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Adena Lions Club meets at 7 p.m. on the first Wednesday of the month in the club room in the Adena Community Building. Lions Clubs are groups of men and women who identify needs within the community and work together to fulfill those needs.
