Tea held at Weirton church

Twenty-seven women of the First Christian Church in Weirton and their guests met Oct. 26 for a tea held in the fellowship hall that included a welcome by interim pastor the Rev. Sharon Watkins. Following the Disciples Women’s Prayer, the women had the opportunity to tell a “Teacup Story” about the cups they had brought. Representatives of the different ministries of the church spoke about their group and the joy of participating in them, including Lynda Slowikowski, Bible study; Paula Brown, Sunday School; Beth Younciak, food distribution; and Paula Brown, Gift of Years. Karen Blanc introduced speaker Jennifer Allen, president of the Disciples Women of West Virginia, who “gave an inspiring talk about bringing the many women’s ministries together under one umbrella as Disciples Women,” a spokeswoman noted.
