Morning Star Baptist Church
to mark 100th anniversary
WEIRTON — The Morning Star Baptist Church of Weirton, located at 3124 Weir Ave., will celebrate 100 years on Sunday to the theme “Still Standing.”
Morning Star was organized on Nov. 15, 1919, by the Rev. Simpson, the Rev. Albert Carter and Eli Mayo with 18 members.
The Rev. John Welch, vice president for student services and dean of students at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, will deliver the 11 a.m. message, and the Rev. Marvin E. Barner Jr., pastor of Second Baptist Church of Steubenville, along with his choir and congregation will be the 3 p.m. guests.
All are invited to attend the services, a church spokesperson noted.
The Rev. James E. Brown is the church’s pastor.
Wednesdays ‘Together’ has one
more dinner before holidays
WEIRTON — “Together” at Weirton Heights Memorial Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, 121 Ivy St., Weirton, will mark its final Wednesday dinner of 2019, taking a holiday break.
On Wednesday from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., there will be a dinner of wedding soup, mild Italian sausage sandwiches and assorted pies. The cost per person is $2. The outreach will be on hiatus until the first Wednesday in February. If Hancock County Schools are canceled, so are the dinners.
‘Haystack Brunch’ today at
Wintersville United Methodist
WINTERSVILLE — The Wintersville United Methodist Church Relay for Life Team is holding an Amish-style “Haystack Brunch” from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today in the church fellowship hall at 702 Main St.
Cost is by donation, and patrons can dine in or get take-out. “The menu includes a large variety of breakfast and lunch toppings to build a delicious ‘haystack’ of your own creation, dessert and drink,” an event spokesperson explained.
All proceeds will go to Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society.
Wellsburg church plans
free November events
WELLSBURG — The First Presbyterian Church, 901 Charles St., Wellsburg, has announced several free events being held during November.
A free community dinner will be served at 6 p.m. on Thursday. The menu will include chili, veggie soup, bread, salad and desserts.
A free community breakfast offering egg casserole, ham and french toast casserole will be held on Nov. 24, beginning at 10 a.m.
Led by Mercy to sing at
Abundant Grace Bible Church
WEIRTON — Christian music band Led By Mercy will perform a free Thanksgiving benefit concert at 7 p.m. on Thursday at Abundant Grace Bible Church, located at 3900 Brightway St., Weirton.
The concert will feature original Christian music as well the music of leading contemporary Christian artists such as MercyMe, Casting Crowns, and Crowder. Refreshments will be served.
Those planning to attend are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item or other donation which will be taken to local food pantries to assist with meals for Thanksgiving.

Christmas cookie sale
at Wellsburg church
WELLSBURG — Christ Episcopal Church in Wellsburg will hold its annual Christmas cookie sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 14 in the parish hall at 1014 Main St.
Pre-orders of lady lox and nut horns can be ordered during the month of November for $7 per dozen by calling Sylvia Ensell at (304) 748-4082.
Several other varieties of cookies will be available on the day of the sale.
Annual holiday bazaar
Nov. 23 at Weirton church
WEIRTON — St. Thomas Episcopal Church, located on Three Springs Drive, will be holding its annual holiday bazaar from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Nov. 23.

Thanksgiving praise service
Sunday at Tucker UMC
BURGETTSTOWN — Tucker United Methodist Church, located at 641 Old Steubenville Pike, Paris, Pa., Hanover Township, will be hosting a Thanksgiving praise service from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday.
It will feature gospel groups, prayer and testimonies. Pizza and refreshments will be served afterward.

Wintersville church hosting
‘Breakfast with Santa’ Dec. 14
WINTERSVILLE — The Wintersville Church of the Nazarene, 377 Longvue Drive, Wintersville, will be hosting “Breakfast with Santa” on Dec. 14, beginning at 9 a.m.
The free event for all community members will include a waffle bar, scrambled eggs, pastries, juice and coffee. It will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Santa will read the Christmas story and then be available for pictures. A 4×6 photo will be mailed to each family in attendance.
The event also will include a take-home craft table set up for children.
