Today’s community page features photos submitted recently from the Toronto High School Class of 1971 committee members who organized the seventh Toronto High School All-School Reunion, which was held Aug. 29-Sept. 1.

The weekend festivities started Aug. 31 with a pep rally recognizing current teams and squads along with special recognition to the Toronto High School baseball team, Division IV state champs. The high school band entertained the crowd.

Following the pep rally, a large crowd of alumni and families enjoyed a concert by Jimmy Lee Hook, one of Toronto’s own, shown at left. The high school football game on Aug. 30 was attended by many alumni and included recognition of distinguished alumni.

On Aug. 31, the Festival of the Arts got under way. Toronto also was the backdrop against the national release of author Joe Martelle’s authorized biography of the late Robert Urich’s life and acting career — “The Robert Urich Story — An Extraordinary Life.”

Aug. 31 events also were marked by the Parade of Classes in the downtown; a golf scramble held at Dyer Country Club; and an alumni dinner at the high school with seven alumni honored as the Class of 2019 distinguished alumni inductees: Kathleen Cope Harney, Class of 1960; Peter O’Hara, Class of 1971; the Rev. Mario Tizziani, Class of 1972; Christopher Warner, Class of 1992; Norman Winstel, Class of 1966; Otis Winston, Class of 1992; and Robert Woodside, Class of 1979.

Throughout the weekend, several classes gathered for their own mixers and get-togethers, according to the committee, whose members expressed appreciation to all those who made the alumni weekend a success.
