MORNING GOLF LEAGUE

Aug. 15 was the first day of the two-day championship. The results were as follows: First flight low gross was Mishal Hawthorne; first flight low net was Mary Ann Bainbridge; second flight low gross was Erin Ankrum; and second flight low net was Dotty Virtue.

Proximities were won by hole No. 8 closest to the pin, Debbie Provenzano; hole No. 14 closest to the pin, Mary Ann Bainbridge; hole No. 17 closest to the pin in two, Mishal Hawthorne; longest putt, Dotty Virtue; and low putts was a tie between Mishal Hawthorne and Dotty Virtue. Birdies were recorded by Mary Ann Bainbridge on hole No. 14 and Mishal Hawthorne on hole Nos. 13 and 18. Erin Ankrum had a chip-in on hole No. 10.

Aug. 22 was day two of the club championship. The results were as follows: First flight low gross was Mishal Hawthorne; first flight low net was Mary Ann Bainbridge; second flight low gross, Janet Stukins; and second flight low net was Dotty Virtue.

Proximities winners were: Closest to the pin, hole No. 8, Mary Ann Bainbridge; closest to the pin, hole No. 14 Mishal Hawthorne; closest to the pin in two, hole No. 17, Elaine Minda; longest putt, Barb Lovaglio; and lowest putts, Debbie Provenzano.

Birdies were recorded by Mishal Hawthorne on hole Nos. 3, 10 and 18 and Mary Ann Bainbridge on hole No. 6. Chip-ins were Debbie Probenzano hole No. 13 and Janet Stukins hole No. 14.

After all the results were in, first flight winner was Mishal Hawthorne and runner-up, Mary Ann Bainbridge. Second flight winner was Janice Torrance and runner-up, Cathy Ralston. Overall net winner was Dotty Virtue.

CADIZ WOMEN’S GOLF LEAGUE

“Blind Partners” was the play of the day on Sept. 4 for the Cadiz Women’s Golf League. Hostesses were Marilyn Kenny and Paula Hope, who paired up each golfer with a partner after play. The results were: First place, Brenda Hartley and Glenda Sensel; second place, Marilyn Kenny and Donna Giffin; and third place, Roberta Cireddu and Kathy Smith. The “Putt Pot” was won by Lori DiFallo and Kathy Newburn.

Birdies were made by Kathy Newburn on hole No. 14; Denise Augustine on hole No. 3; and Carole Patton on hole No. 3. Chip-ins were achieved by Roberta Cireddu on hole No. 9 and Marsha Porter on hole No. 17. The monthly 50/50 drawing winner was Glenda Sensel.

Next Wednesday’s play of the day will be “Find the Fairway on your Drive” with Denise Augustine and Pat Beamer as hostesses.

Chairman Brenda Hartley opened the monthly meeting after lunch to plan for the final day of golf and awards dinner on Sept. 25..

On Aug. 28, the Cadiz Women’s Golf League played a “One-Putt Poker” game with Carole Patton and Judy Crawshaw as hostesses.

Winners were: A Flight, Roberta Cireddu; B flight, Denise Augustine; and C flight, Ginny Ferrell. The “Putt Pot” was won by Roberta Cireddu, Nep Rowland and Paula Hope.

Chip-ins were accomplished by Kathy Newburn on hole No. 6; Brenda Hartley on hole No. 16; and Paula Hope on hole No.12. There were no birdies.

TOWN AND COUNTRY

Town and Country Golf players had their monthly meeting and scramble on Aug. 29. The winning team consisted of Wanda Retzer, Kathy Antinone, Dora Elizaga and Sondra Hyde with a score of 36.

Second place was Laura Froehlich, Lattee Chinakarn, Rose Kaczmarek and Nancy Lellie with a 37. A chip-in birdie was recorded by Retzer on hole No. 7.

Other winners were:

Long drive hole No. 2 — A flight, Lucy Karaan; B flight, Norma Henson; and C flight, Lellie.

Long drive hole No. 7 — A flight, Minnie Walters; B flight, Chinakarn; and C flight, Hyde.

Closest to the pin hole No. 1 — second shot, Karaan.
