WEIRTON — Members of the Weirton Lions Club met recently to finalize plans for their fall fundraiser — a quarter auction to be held Saturday at Cove Presbyterian Church in downtown Weirton.

Doors open at noon, and the auction begins at 1 p.m. In addition to auction items, there will be a gift basket drawing and a 50/50 drawing. Food will be available for purchase. Tickets are $5 and are available at the door. The Quarterback Group is coordinating the auction for the Lions.

Proceeds will benefit the Lions program to provide eye exams and glasses for those in need as assistance in the Weirton area.

At their regular meeting, members assembled several dozen peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to give to the Friendship Room in Steubenville to distribute to those in need.

Plans also were made for the upcoming visit of the District Gov. Bill Syphers. District governor’s night will be held on Oct. 1 at Giovanni’s, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

The Weirton Lions Club welcomes new members interested in helping the local community. For information, contact club President Bernice Pitcock at (304) 797-8374. Information also is available on the Weirton Lions Club website and Facebook page.
