CADIZ WOMEN’S GOLF LEAGUE

Congratulations were in order for the winners of the Cadiz Women’s Golf League Championship Tournament.

Billie Stanwick, tournament chairman, announced winners as: A flight, Janis Cook in first place and Tracy Amos, runner-up. In B flight, first place was Brenda Hartley, and runner-up was Bonnie Beetham. A tie in C flight caused a play-off with Glenda Sensel coming in first and Judy Crawshaw being runner-up.

Low net was play of the day with winners being A flight, Janis Cook; B flight, Bonnie Beetham; and C flight, Glenda Sensel. Low putts went to Janis Cook and Bonnie Beetham (29).

Kathy Newburn had a chip-in and birdie on hole No. 13. Janis Cook had a birdie on hole No. 14, and Carol Lepic had a chip-in for par on hole No. 4.

Hostesses Wednesday will be Janis Cook and Marsha Porter, who will choose the play of the day. Tee time is 9 a.m.

RED OAKS

The women of the Red Oaks Ladies League played Aug. 12. The play of the day was “Bingo, Bango, Bongo.”

The winners of the game were Lori DeFallo, Lorraine Parsons, Tammy Cox and Yuko Atwell. Denise Augustine won the longest drive prize for hole No. 13.Tammy Cox had the low putts for the round. Two chip-in birdies were recorded for the round: Yuko Atwell on hole No. 11 and Denise Augustine on the 18th hole.

All women are invited to participate. Play is at Red Oaks Golf Course each Monday at 5 p.m. with the league traveling to Highland Springs in Wellsburg the last Monday of each month. Those planning to play are directed to call the golf course the day of play to sign up before 3:30 p.m.

SPRING HILLS

Spring Hills Thursday evening golf league played a scramble with the following winners:

Tied for first place: Vickie Grant, Mary Arehart and JoAnn Hardman and Yuko Antil, Brenda McCloskey and Linda Caputo

Second place: Janet Backel, Patty Gerlando and Pat Carey

Other winners were: Long drive, Yuko Antil; closest to the pin, Yuko Antil; and chip-in was Mary Arehart with an eagle on hole No. 12

Pat Carey was the 50-50 winner.

The club championship will be a two-week tournament. Participants playing should call the Pro Shop.

Play-away was discussed by Vickie Grant.

Guest Day will be at Turkana Golf Course in East Liverpool.

Plans are being made for the girls’ overnight Golf trip in September.

Play will be at Wilkshire and Zoar Golf courses in Bolivar, Ohio.

Banquet plans are under way with Chairperson Kathi Moore, Mary Alice Meyer and Carmella Wallace in charge.
