Knights sponsor prom for Special Olympians

WINTERSVILLE — The Knights of Columbus Immaculate Heart of Mary Council 472 sponsored its 20th-annual Prom for Special Olympics athletes and chaperones.

The evening began with Spring Games Event Co-Coordinator Rick Sperry presenting the Knights of Council 472 with a plaque of recognition.

The event, held May 11, included refreshments, dancing and music by disc jockey Rich Coburn. It closed with Marisa Bruzzese, Jefferson County local coordinator for Special Olympics, presenting each athlete who participated in the Special Olympics for the 2018-19 Olympic year with a memento for their involvement.

Keith Bodo, Knights of Columbus prom chairman, expressed thanks to members and their families and friends who helped set up the hall and prepare refreshments. Volunteers for the Knights included Rick Fornal, Lou Almonti and Don Hall. Other volunteers were Suzanne Bodo, Rebecca Bodo and Carol Almonti.

Bodo also thanked members of the Cross Creek Tomahawks 4-H Club for serving refreshments and passing out awards, including Amy, Luke, Brady and Tommy Dinovo, Lyla and Carter Graziano, Melissa and Addison Robinson, Gia Bruzzese and Gabby Bodo.
