Hancock Democratic Women award scholarship

WEIRTON — The Hancock County Democratic Women held their monthly meeting on June 10 at Giovanni’s Family Restaurant in Weirton with President Kathy Link presiding.

Secretary Teresa McCombs gave a report.

Link introduced scholarship recipient Chloe Milosh, a 2019 graduate of Oak Glen High School who read her essay. Milosh plans to attend West Virginia University where she will major in biomedical engineering.

Fundraising ideas were further discussed, with the group deciding to sell tickets for a 50-50 drawing. The winner will be announced at the Sept. 23 meeting.

The next meeting will be held on July 15 at Giovanni’s Family Restaurant, Pennsylvania Avenue, with dinner at 5 p.m. for those wanting to eat. The business meeting starts at 6 p.m.

The Democratic women are hosting a membership drive and welcoming new members. The group has 20 members. Prospective members must be a Democrat residing in Hancock County. The annual dues are $10 payable upon joining. Meetings are held on the third Monday of the month at Giovanni’s Family Restaurant.
