Wintersville Class of 1964
planning August reunion
WINTERSVILLE — The Wintersville High School Class of 1964 reunion committee members met recently to finalize plans for the 55-year reunion to be held Aug. 24 at Undo’s banquet hall in Weirton.
The casual event will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a social hour, followed by a class photo, a free buffet dinner, courtesy of an anonymous donor, and dancing.
Friday is the RSVP date. For those who may not have received an invitation or have questions, contact Lola Dornbusch Swanagan at (740) 632-9492, who noted that about 90 reservations have been made to date.
An ice breaker will be held Aug. 23, also at Undo’s. Those planning to attend it also are asked to contact Swanagen.
The committee’s next meeting will be held Friday at Murray’s Restaurant in Wintersville, beginning at 1 p.m. All classmates are welcome to attend.
WMC Auxiliary hosting
two-day uniform sale
WEIRTON — The Weirton Medical Center Auxiliary will be hosting a fundraiser two-day a Robert’s Medical Uniforms sale.
It will be held in the atrium lobby of Weirton Medical Center from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday and from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday. It will feature a variety of fashion styles and brands.
Pancake, sausage breakfast
fundraiser in Unionport
UNIONPORT — A fundraiser pancake and sausage breakfast will be held from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. on July 27 at the Wayne Township Community Center in Unionport. The meal includes sausage gravy and biscuits, scrambled eggs and sweet rolls. All proceeds benefit the upkeep of the community center.
Teddy Bear Tea Wednesday
at Mary H. Weir Public Library
WEIRTON — The 17th-annual Teddy Bear Tea, sponsored by the Literary Department of the Weirton Woman’s Club, a member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs of West Virginia, and the Mary H Weir Public Library will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday in the library’s downstairs activity room.
The children will watch a brief teddy bear video and have a teddy bear book read to them. Jim Tate, “The Magic Man,” will perform a magic show and make balloon animals for the children, and punch and cookies will be served by members of the literary department.
Each child attending receives a small teddy bear to take home and an opportunity to win a book or a bear. “It’s an exciting and enjoyable day at the library and is free to the public,” a spokesperson noted. All children attending must be accompanied by an adult.
Jeanne Amidon is chairman of the literary department, and Molly Mossor chairs the Teddy Bear Tea. Helen Gibson is the president of the Weirton Woman’s Club.
