Library reading club events detailed

STEUBENVILLE — “A Universe of Stories” Summer Reading Club activities have been announced at the various locations of the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County. They include:

Main Library, (740) 282-9782

Children in grades three through six will learn about the “Moons of the Solar System” in the digital planetarium from the Carnegie Science Center at 3 p.m. on Friday. Seating in the planetarium is limited. Registration is required by calling the library.

Watch a family movie at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Call to find out what’s playing.

Teens in grades nine through 12 and adults can learn about discoveries the Hubble Space telescope has made in space in the digital planetarium from the Carnegie Science Center at 5 p.m. on Friday.Seating in the planetarium is limited. Registration is required by calling the library.

Weather permitting, participants will look at the sun through the lens of a telescope with Zachary Coldebella of Cold Sky Photography. Children ages 5 and older are welcome also to this program at 4:50 p.m. on Wednesday.

Book club will meet at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Call to join.

Play space bingo Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Weather permitting, participants will look through the lens of a telescope with Coldebella. The program will be at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Paint an aurora borealis scene on canvas on Tuesday at 5 p.m. Materials are provided, and registration is required.

Make moon sand on Thursday at 5 p.m. Registration is required.

Paint a space character on a mug at 2 p.m. on Friday.

Weather permitting, participants will look at the sun through the lens of a telescope with Coldebella on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Book club will meet for discussion on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. The group will be discussing “Britt Marie Was Here” by Fredrik Backman. Call to join.

Get tech help to download library materials from a website to an electronic device from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday. Call for a 15-minute appointment.

A family movie is set for Friday at 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Register for one show time by calling the library.

Children can make a sun catcher to take home on Tuesday at 11 a.m.
