Weirton Legion Post hosting

Easter dinner on Tuesday

WEIRTON — The Weirton American Legion Post 10, located at 3140 Pennsylvania Ave., will host an Easter dinner from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

It is open to the public, and the buffet will include ham, chicken and a variety of foods. The cost is $8 for adults; $4 for children ages 6-10; and free for children younger than 6.

A Chinese auction also is part of the fundraiser.

Annual Good Friday brunch

at YWCA of Steubenville

STEUBENVILLE — The YWCA of Steubenville, located at 320 N. Fourth St., will be hosting its annual Good Friday brunch on Friday, beginning at 11 a.m.

The theme is “Were You There?” The guest speaker will be the Rev. Paulnetta Barner of Second Baptist Church in Steubenville.

Featured musical guests will be the Sycamore Center Youth Choir.

Charity basketball game to aid

Patents for Pennies project

WEIRTON — The Weir High School Key Club and National Honor Society are partnering with the Hancock Sheltered Workshop to host a charity basketball game that will benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Patients for Pennies Project.

Students will play against the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department on Thursday, with doors opening at 5 p.m. and the event beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Concessions, drawings and a 50-50 drawing will take place during the event. The entrance fee is $5 per person.

Students are continuing to collect sponsorships with a goal of $2,000. Donations can be sent to Weir High School at 100 Red Rider Road, Weirton, WV, 26062, attention Sarah Alkire. Checks can be made out to Weir High School.

Since 1993, students and educators throughout the United States and Canada have raised more than $368 million in support of the LLS mission to cure blood cancers and improve the lives of patients and their families, according to a news release.

Weirton Senior Center

to host dance Thursday

WEIRTON — The Greater Weirton Senior Citizens Center, located at 3425 Main St., will host a dance on Thursday with live entertainment by Tom Zielinsky.

Doors will open at 5 p.m., with music from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. There is a $5 door charge. Free refreshments will be provided. For information, call (304) 748-3490.

Deersville VFD holding

fundraiser quarter auction

DEERSVILLE — The Deersville Community Volunteer Fire Department and EMS will be hosting a quarter auction to raise funds to keep its services and equipment at its best, according to officials.

The fundraiser will be held Saturday at 107 E. Main St., beginning at 2 p.m. There will be vendors, a 50-50 drawing, a Chinese auction and food. For information, contact Chief John Sukosd at (740) 922-1961.

luncheon meeting Tuesday

STEUBENVILLE — Retirees of TIMET in Toronto will have occasion to chat, reminisce and stay connected at the next get-together luncheon scheduled for Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at CJ’s Restaurant on Sunset Boulevard, Steubenville.

Game Day with ASAP

Youth Council on April 27

WEIRTON — ASAP Youth Council and the Mary H. Weir Public Library, 3442 Main St., will offer a free Game Day and Mario Kart Tournament from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on April 27 in the library’s activity room.

The Mario Kart Tournament will allow participants “to race across systems, advancing from the snes to the switch.” Other video games, board games and card games will be available. Guests are welcome to bring their own, provided the games are rated Teen or under.

Free popcorn and water will be available. The accessible Walnut Street doors will open at 10:45 a.m.
