Country Friends announces

weekend entertainment

COLLIERS — Country Friends will host the Neon Knights dance band on Friday and the Moonlite Special on Saturday at the Memorial Hall located at 67 Police Lodge Road, Colliers.

The doors open at 6 p.m., the dance starts at 7 p.m., and the hall closes at 10 p.m. for both events. There is a $5 cover charge per person on dance nights.

Open mic is Monday. The doors open at 4 p.m., the covered-dish meal is served at 5 p.m., and open mic begins at 6 p.m. and ends at 9 p.m. There is no cover charge on Mondays, but donations are appreciated.

Agape Apostolic Assembly

Food Pantry holding dinner

STEUBENVILLE — Agape Apostolic Assembly Food Pantry is sponsoring a benefit dinner to raise money to build its food pant distribution and warehouse center.

The dinner will be held Saturday at the Agape Assembly dining hall located at 525 Slack St. It will begin at 5 p.m. The cost is a $25 donation. The theme is “Helping Us to Help Others.”

Lenten fish fry Fridays

at Toronto American Legion

TORONTO — The Toronto American Legion Post 86, located at 425 Market St., is hosting its annual Lenten fish fry on Fridays through Good Friday on April 19.

The hours are from noon to 6 p.m. Orders can be called in at 11 a.m. The number is (740) 537-9317. Home and business deliveries will be available.

The menu includes cod sandwiches or chunks, home-cut fries and slaw. Patrons can dine in or get takeout.

Weir Building Lego Club

set to meet on Tuesday

WEIRTON — The newly formed Weir Building LEGO Club will meet from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Mary H. Weir Public Library, located at 3442 Main St.

The “Weir Building” will meet the third Tuesday of each month through May. Children of all ages are welcome, and those younger than 10 must be accompanied by an adult.

“There are no fees and no registration requirements — just come and build,” explained Nikki Jagela, children’s program services specialist. All builders will receive a free “Weir Building” logo button.

Aside from Tuesday, the other two dates will be April 16 and May 21. “We decided to start the group because LEGO play is beneficial to children’s progress of fine motor skills, creativity and social development,” Jagela said. “Our hope is that the group grows as time goes on.”

VFW in Weirton to hold

weekly Friday fish frys

WEIRTON — The Veterans of Foreign Wars Panhandle Post 2716 will be holding a Lenten fish fry on Fridays through April 19 at the post, located at 3435 Main St., Weirton.

The weekly dinners will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The menu will include fish, shrimp, slaw and fries. The dinners are open to the public.

STEUBENVILLE — Lancia Healthcare will be hosting a fish fry on Friday, with a dinner including a fish sandwich with homemade macaroni and cheese and coleslaw for $7.

Free, low-impact aerobics

class at WVNCC Weirton campus

WEIRTON — The Weirton campus of West Virginia Northern Community College is offering a free aerobics class designed for anyone who wants to start exercising at a moderate pace.

The class begins on March 25 and ends on May 8. It will be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays in room 242/243.

This is a low-impact class with an emphasis on stretching and easy movements to music. All exercise is done standing. It involves no chair or floor work. The instructor is Carol Teaff.

Participants should wear loose or stretchy clothing and athletic shoes and should bring a bottle of water. Registration forms will be available in class or ahead of time in the main office at the Weirton campus. Participants can enroll at any time.

Knights host Friday fish frys

MINGO JUNCTION — The Mingo Junction Knights of Columbus is holding Friday fish frys. They will be held from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Fridays through April 5.
