Honored as Silver Sister

The Alpha Tau chapter (WV) of Alpha Delta Kappa, International Honorary Organization for Women Educators, held its January meeting at Trinity United Methodist Church in New Cumberland with President Amanda Fisher presiding. The “Thought for the Day,” “A Prayer for the New Year” by Billy Graham, was read by Chaplain Kathy Griffith. A special ceremony was held to honor member Patricia Long as a Silver Sister. Fisher and Past President Velda Icard recognized Long’s 25 years of service to Alpha Delta Kappa. From left, are Icard, Long and Fisher. Treasurer Fran Jones gave the financial report and discussed the progress of the ways and means projects. Committee reports were given, and correspondence was read. Fraternity Education Committee Chairman Susan Gracie led the group in entertaining activities involving the song, “The Lamp of Alpha Delta Kappa.” Hostesses for the meeting were Fisher, Amy Hannahs and Pam Robinson. The next meeting will be held Feb. 12. A silent auction will be held with the proceeds to be donated to Cystic Fibrosis.
