Anytime Fitness opens in Wintersville

NEW LOCATION — The Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce helped the owner and staff of the Anytime Fitness gym in Wintersville mark its opening with a ribbon-cutting. Owner Brandon Pastor performed the cut with help from manager Mindy Meadows, to his left; and trainer Jackie Wiedeman. Tricia Maple-Damewood, the chamber’s executive director; and Wintersville Councilman Randy Spence joined chamber members and other supporters in welcoming the business.

WINTERSVILLE — Area residents have a new place where they can work out at any time of the day with the opening of the Anytime Fitness location in a section of the former Riesbeck’s store at 100 Main St.

The Jefferson County Chamber of Chamber helped owner Brandon Pastor to mark the business’ opening with a ribbon cutting.

Pastor said he is new to the area but has been affiliated with Anytime Fitness for eight years, having owned successful locations in St. Clairsville, Moundsville and New Martinsville.

He said in addition to offering 24-hour access to exercise facilities, the gym strives to offer people of all ages and backgrounds a comfortable place to improve their personal health.

Individuals come to the gym with various goals, from losing weight to improving their strength, balance or flexibility or a combination of all of those things, Pastor said.

He added personalized trainers are available to help clients plan a routine that best meets their goals and needs.

“We are a coaching gym, not just a convenience gym,” Pastor said, adding the gym offers several ways in which clients can measure their progress.

They include a computerized body scanning system that measures muscle mass, body fat and other factors; and a heart rate monitoring system that gages how hard patrons are working out.

The gym also offers a variety of equipment, including resistance training machines, free weights, treadmills, elliptical machines, stationary bikes and a turf functional training area with suspension equipment, bumper plates, kettlebells and battle ropes.

Staff is available to assist during several hours of the day.

Patrons who use the gym at night are given a security tag to enter. Monitored by security cameras, the gym has emergency buttons on the walls and emergency buttons patrons can wear that can be pressed to summon first responders for help.

Pastor said about 6,000 square feet of the former grocery store was renovated for the gym by crews employed by Derek Ferguson, the building’s owner.

Through Cedar One Realty, Ferguson is seeking to lease other space in the building.

Seven-day trial memberships for Anytime Fitness are available. For information, call (740) 275-4140 or e-mail wintersvilleoh@anytimefitness.com.
