Crestview Inn sets open house for Sept. 26

BLOOMINGDALE — The Crestview Inn Restaurant at the Jefferson County Joint Vocational School will open its doors Wednesday.

The eatery, which is located at the school at 1509 County Highway 22A in Bloomingdale, is hosting an open house on from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and will operate three days per week during those hours. The program’s 12 juniors and seniors will operate the facility and handle service, cooking and management under the guidance of instructor Glenn Zalenski. The menu will feature a variety of breakfast and lunch dishes.

“It’s a new menu this year with items created by the senior class,” Zalenski said. “We will be open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday when school is in session and the seniors will work lunch while juniors work breakfast.”

Among the menu items are homemade brisket that is smoked on-site with macaroni and cheese plus smoked pork and traditional favorites such as buffalo chicken sandwiches. A new jalapeno burger also will be available, as well as appetizers, soups, salads and the dessert of the day.

Zalenski said the eatery helps students prepare for upcoming events, including the ProStart annual boot camp in Columbus on Oct. 20 through the Ohio Restaurant Association.

Crestview Inn is able to host small parties and meetings, and reservations and carryout service are available. There are plans to provide online ordering. For information, contact the site at (740) 264-5545, Ext. 602.
