STEUBENVILLE — Valley Hospice and the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce are joining forces to conduct a food drive that will benefit the Cancer Dietary Initiative, a food pantry for patients who are undergoing cancer treatment. The goal of this initiative is to help cancer patients obtain nutritious foods. More than 90 patients and their families are helped each month, with the need for assistance continuing to grow.

“The staff and board members of Valley Hospice are delighted to partner with the Jefferson County Community Chamber of Commerce for a food drive to benefit patients undergoing cancer treatment,” said Cynthia Bougher, Valley Hospice CEO. “Valley Hospice is committed to serving residents in our community, and this partnership fits perfectly with our mission.”

The food drive is being done in conjunction with the Valley Hospice Business After Hours, scheduled for Oct. 27 at the central administrative office in Rayland. Nonperishable food items, as well as cash donations for the Cancer Dietary Initiative, will be accepted as entrance fee for the evening’s Fourth-Annual Taste of the Season beer and wine tasting.

Food drive collection boxes can be found at the following locations: Tony Teramana Cancer Center, the chamber of commerce, Steubenville YMCA, Fort Steuben Mall, Diamond Pharmacy, Follansbee Pharmacy, Value Leader, Tri-State Pharmacy, Tri-State Medical Supply, Aubrey’s Bakery, Valley Hospice Care Center North, Valley Hospice Central Administrative Office and Liza’s Place and Valley Hospice Care Center South.

Donations were accepted at Trinity Medical Center East and West in September.

All donations will be collected on Nov. 1 and prepared for delivery to the CDI. For information, contact Valley Hospice at (740) 859-5650.
