Having fun, helping others

Eric Fithyan, owner of Chambers and James Funeral Home, and staff at the Herald-Star donned silly glasses, noses and other red “flair” to mark Red Nose Day, a nationwide campaign organized by Walgreens to raise funds for charities serving children in poverty. Fithyan collected more than $350 from area businesses, groups and individuals, half of which will be sent to Walgreens, with the other half going to efforts to provide children in need with backpacks filled with nonperishable food. With Fithyan, left, are, front, from left, Pat Scheel, Cindy Manack, Cindy Steineman and Julie Jones; and back, Mary Scott, Diana Brown and Brenda Swiger. – Contributed
