Police reports

Steubenville Police

Flying high: A caller reported a man seeking treatment for drug or alcohol abuse “was so overly intoxicated that he was now being combative with staff and (firefighters),” Sunday. Staff said he “admitted to taking between 1,600 mg and 1,800 mg of Gabapentin and Klonopin before arriving” as well as downing “(about) one pint of vodka,” but when they told him he would have to be medically cleared before he could enter treatment he “refused to listen.” Police said the man was “so overly intoxicated and/or under the influence that he was unable to stand up under his own power without falling or nearly falling over…(and) was barely able to speak clearly and was periodically ‘nodding off.’ Because he’d reported taking “so much more prescription medication than…is safe,” along with a large amount of alcohol, police said that, for his own safety, they made him go to the hospital for treatment.

Lost his way: The owner of a property in the 600 block of North Fourth Street near state Route 7 reported damage to the fence and yard area, Sunday. Police said they found pieces of the vehicle in the yard, including a headlight, part of the front bumper and grill and a white mirror. Based on the placement of the debris police said the driver appears to have been southbound on Route 7 when his pickup left the roadway and hit the fence, then traveled through the side lot before continuing onto North Court Alley.

Vandalized: A driver reported her car was egged while it was parked in a lot along Mall Drive, Sunday.

Hanging around: An Oregon Avenue resident said a dog that didn’t belong to her had been on her porch since Thanksgiving and would not leave, Sunday. Police tried to get the dog off the property without success, and advised her the animal control officer would be working the following day and she should contact him if the dog was still there.

Hit-skipped: A Jackson Drive resident told police her vehicle was damaged, Friday. Police said her driver’s side door had been dented and there was white paint transfer on it as well.

Stay home: A man was causing a disturbance in the 1000 block of Lincoln Boulevard, Saturday. Police said the male involved was “highly intoxicated” and was causing a scene “because he wanted to purchase cigar wraps,” and they told him he “needed to leave and go home.” Police said they were able to calm him down and got him in a family member’s car for the ride home.

Charges filed: A Weirton woman is facing charges after a traffic stop on McDowell Avenue at Sunset Boulevard, Friday. Police said Felischa Grays, 46, 3332 Orchard St., was charged with possession of drugs and cited for expired plates after “trace amounts of cocaine” were allegedly found in her purse. Grays told police it wasn’t hers, but they claim during the booking process she allegedly told correctional officers she’d “recently used powder cocaine.”

Charged: Joseph Lower, 28, 141 Parkdale Road, Steubenville, OVI and failure to control, Sunday.

Red means stop: Charles B. Hunter, 61, Alliance, red light violation after a two-car collision Nov. 23 at University Boulevard and Seventh Street. Police allege Hunter turned left on a red arrow, colliding with an oncoming car. Air bags deployed in both vehicles, which police said were heavily damaged.

Cited: Juliette Harton, 61, 735 Rosswell Ave., Steubenville, failure to reinstate license; Megan Price, 25, 730 N. Seventh St., Steubenville, expired registration; Melissa Brown, 32, 1144 Barone Drive, Weirton, expired registration; Marquon C. Underwood, 28, 1915 Yankee St., Wellsburg, driving under suspension.
