Police reports

Steubenville Police

No explanation: Police said a juvenile was dropped off at the Trinity Medical Center West emergency department after being stabbed in the right shoulder, Saturday. Police said she had two small stab wounds to her shoulder “as well as at least one bite mark on the left side of her forehead.” Police said the girl said she was unable to write a statement at that time so no further details were available.

Anger issues: An Oak Grove Avenue resident told police her live-in boyfriend slammed her into a wall, Sunday. She said he “barged into the residence” after she’d given him a cell phone password he’d requested and attacked her, so they fought. She said she managed to get him out of the house, but then he picked up a golf club that was on her porch and “began taking swings at her doors, windows and siding until a neighbor interceded.” The neighbor said he “heard what sounded like metal striking metal” and came out of his house in time to see the man “throwing items at (the female)” and when got back in her house he “walked around the house, striking it.” The neighbor said he was concerned for the female’s safety “so he walked across the street himself and confronted the (male),” who then left on foot.

One charged: An altercation was reported in an alley behind a Belleview Boulevard residence, Sunday. A female said she locked herself in a bathroom after a male who’d been ordered by a judge to stay away from her refused to let her leave. Another male involved said the argument started over the couple buying his vehicle and admitted at one point he threw a basket at the other man. Police said none of them wanted to pursue charges, but Anthony M. Beckett, 21, 2516 Crabbe Blvd., Apt. A, was charged with violating the protection order.

Hanging out: A caller reported a suspicious vehicle at the Steubenville Marina, Saturday. Police said the couple in the car advised they were “currently homeless and … hanging out at the marina for the day.” On Sunday the male reported another man reached through his car window and punched him in the head before fleeing over the hillside toward the riverbank. He denied needing medical attention and police said they didn’t see any physical injury or redness. Later in the day he reported seeing the same man going into a store downtown and waited until he exited and took pictures of him. Police located the male in the pictures, who denied being involved in any altercations but did confirm when he left the store the man began taking pictures of him.

Questions: Police said a man parked in front of the police station “screaming at a female in the passenger seat” of his car, Sunday. The man told them she “was refusing to get out of his vehicle” and he “wanted to go home without her.” She left the area on foot.

Not invited: A caller told police two men were in a Lawson Avenue apartment where they didn’t belong, Saturday. The caller said the residence belongs to a family member who’d inherited it. Police said one of the men who had been staying there for some time invited a friend, who told them he was unaware they weren’t supposed to be there. He was told to leave the property and the caller was advised the owner will need to evict the other “due to him staying in the home for an extended period of time.”

Charged: David M. Angelo, 61, 208 Putnam Lane, Weirton, possession of drugs, Sunday. Police reported finding a white, rock-like substance believed to be crack cocaine in the center console and crumbs of the same substance on the floorboards of the car, which Angelo said he’d borrowed from a friend. He denied knowledge of any contraband in the car, police said. Angelo also was cited for illegal license plates, police said.

Vandalism: The owner of a home in the 400 block of Spring Avenue reported another man broke a window facing South Street, Sunday.

Bothersome: A Garfield Avenue resident told police two men dressed in black were going door-to-door soliciting homeowners, Saturday. The two were nowhere to be found when police checked the neighborhood.

Booked: Jagar L. Lucas, 23, 407 N. Wabash St., Wheeling, burglary and aggravated menacing, Sunday. Police took Lucas into custody after responding to reports of a disturbance at an apartment in the 1500 block of Plum Street. No further details of Lucas’s arrest were reported, but police stopped another man who’d left the residence with a firearm. That man said he was “open carrying” the gun, a 22 caliber AR-style rifle, but police pointed out “he was not open carrying when he had it concealed under his arm” in such a way that suggested he was ready to use it.

Jefferson County Sheriff

Too much TV: A caller reported seeing “blood splatter and brain matter” on the passenger seat of a vehicle in the Yorkville area but when deputies checked it they realized it was “food and drink stains,” Sunday. They delivered the news to the caller, who told police he “must have watched too many CSI shows” causing him to believe a crime had occurred in the car.

Walk away: A man in Mingo Junction who’d allegedly been smoking fentanyl on his way home from a bar got in an argument with the mother of his newborn baby and allegedly “pulled the new air conditioner” from the living room window and broke it, Sunday. When she told him she was calling the sheriff’s department, she said he grabbed her phone and left, and gave police “several glass smoking pipes commonly associated with drug abuse.” They also reported finding an unlabeled prescription pill bottle in the driveway that contained a small straw and a white powder. The woman said he returned to the home several times but left when she told him she was calling for help.

One charged: A female was taken into custody for allegedly assaulting a family member at a residence on state Route 213, Sunday. Deputies said Nevaeh Addom, 19, was charged with domestic violence after the family member reported being assaulted during an argument about the girl’s pets, the condition of the room she was sharing with her fiance and not cutting the grass. The homeowner said the couple had been staying in the home less than two weeks and doesn’t think they are caring for their animals and was upset by the condition of the room they were in “due to animal urine and feces covering the floor.” The homeowner had scratches on her hand that were still bleeding and another on her ear, deputies said. Addom said she was in her room applying for jobs when the homeowner came in “complaining about the state (it was in),” but told deputies she thought it was fine. Deputies, however, said the room was “deplorable” with clothes all over the floor and a strong smell of pet urine permeating the air. The fiance packed their pets and belongings up and told deputies she was going to Coshocton.

Damaged: A Rayland man told deputies he thinks his ex-girlfriend slashed his trailer tire, Saturday. He said she’s been sending him texts periodically that he’d deleted, and said several shepherd’s hooks were missing from the side of his garage.

Missing: A Mingo Junction man said his Ruger LCP 380 was stolen from his vehicle while it was parked overnight in the 400 block of Grandview Avenue, Friday. He said when he left for work he noticed the door was ajar but didn’t think anything of it until he realized the gun was missing.
