Cagey: Callers in the 300 block of South Fourth Street said a woman “was yelling at the occupants (of) a black Toyota Camry parked in the driveway,” Tuesday. Police located the woman, said only that the male in the vehicle “attempted to put his hands on her.” They said the tried to speak with the male driver, but he declined to make a statement other than to say he “touched her arm but did not cause any injuries.” The man and his female passenger were advised to leave the area.
Truth be told: A man in the 700 block of North Seventh Street reported being assaulted, Wednesday He told police the woman involved had left the area before they arrived. When they asked him if he had been assaulted as he had told dispatchers, he told them he was “verbally assaulted and ‘somewhat’ physically assaulted” and complained because it took an officer too long to get there, even though he arrived within five minutes of his call, then told them they were no longer needed. Police said they did see the remnants of what appeared to be a coffee cup on the ground in front of the residence. Not long after the female showed up at the police station to report it herself, saying the man “had followed her out of the apartments and thrown an item in her direction as she was walking out,” and told police several days earlier the same man “attempted to physically fight (her.)” She said she wasn’t sure if he was trying to hit her with the ite he’d thrown at her. Another woman said she tried to “de-escalate the situation” but had been knocked to the ground by a man “trying to get to” the original caller but didn’t feel that was intentional.
Cause and effect: A woman in the 200 block of South Fourth Street asked police for help because the man she lives with “was trying to kick her out and she resides there,” Tuesday. The male said she was “calling him names and would not leave him alone.” They were advised to stay away from each other.
Helped herself: Police on patrol heard people yelling in the 100 block of North fourth Street, Tuesday. They said two men and a woman were in “a heated argument” and gleaned it was over “the female taking $20 and a pair of pants” from one of the men. They trio was separated, and arrangements were made for the woman to return the items she’d taken.
Raising cane: A disturbance was reported at a property in the 1300 block of Oregon Avenue, Tuesday. Police said they tried numerous times to check on the residents but no one came to the door. A neighbor said the couple had been “arguing in the front yard” but went behind the property and had not been seen since.
Screamer: A caller reported a man on the front porch of a vacant structure in the 400 block of North Sixth Street “acting suspiciously and screaming,” Tuesday. Police recognized the man, who told them he “would keep the noise to a minimum and leave the area.”
Being loud: Two women were arguing in the 100 block of North Fourth Street, Tuesday. One of them told police the other was “causing a disturbance and she confronted her about it,” but police said the other woman was still “actively yelling and they were both advised to avoid further interaction for the night.”
Home alone: Police were asked to check on two older juveniles left at home while their mother was out of town, Tuesday. Police tried several times to speak with them but no one came to the door, nor were there lights or any other noises coming from inside the home.
Him again: Someone reported seeing a man in the grass on Hollywood Boulevard at Sunset Boulevard, Tuesday. Police said the man told them “everything was just fine and he was resting” before leaving the area.
Shown the door: A Wilkins Street resident asked police to remove a man from her property, but he left before police arrived, Tuesday. The homeowner said she doesn’t want him to return to her home.

Stalker: A man in the Irondale area for work said he didn’t know his ex knew where he was staying until she showed up there, Tuesday. He said he heard a knock on his door and discovered the woman on his doorstep, describing her as “being aggressive and a stalker, randomly showing up at places” where he is. He said he wasn’t sure where she’d gone but he does have an emergency protection order barring her from contacting him.
Making it up: A woman who refused to identify herself claimed deputies needed to check on her ex because his wife had obtained an order of protection barring him from contacting her but “keeps baiting him” to go to her house so she can have him arrested, Monday. Deputies were unable to locate the protection order she claimed was in effect and told her they couldn’t go to the residence to verify the allegation, “especially when the caller wishes to remain anonymous.” The following day she contacted Steubenville Police and again was vague with authorities, “hesitating” before giving them a name and when they called her back got a message that her phone “does not allow calls from (the department’s) number.” Later Tuesday the same woman called 9-1-1, claiming she’d gone to the house to return some of the male’s things and his wife “started acting like a fool and pushing (him) around.” Deputies told the 9-1-1 operators that the woman had “called numerous departments … for unknown reasons” before speaking with her again, and this time she claimed she “knows for a fact that there’s a nationwide restraining order in place between (the man and his wife) because she’d called Toronto county court and was told one was in place.” Deputies told her they would have access to the record in their system if there truly was a restraining order in place but said she “continued to argue about a restraining order and how (deputies) needed to check on the man,” then told them she “doesn’t want to be involved because (she) has enough issues going on.”
Blame game: A woman said she was on a video chat with her mother when she saw a female her mother was “trying to help” assault her, Tuesday. She said the woman punched her mother in the eye. The mother then contacted deputies, reporting that the female was “still being aggressive” and pulled her hair, so she defended herself. She said her alleged assailant had been staying at her father’s house with her boyfriend, but her father threw her out, so she allowed them to stay the week with her. She said they’d an argument about her houseguest’s cats led to the physical altercation and claimed the houseguest had been “acting strange leading up to the incident and had no idea why it got physical,” claiming the younger woman grabbed her by the hair and dragged her to the ground, punching her in the face. Deputies said the woman’s eye was swollen, and she had rug burns on her arms. The houseguest claimed the dispute because the daughter wanted to come to her mother’s house, and they weren’t sure they had enough gas money to get her. She claimed the daughter started the fight by telling her mother to “jump her.” The houseguest had scratches on her face and torso. Both women confirmed no weapons were involved and blamed each other for starting the fight.
