Steubenville Police
On the run: A man allegedly snatched his child away from his mother in the 100 block of North Fourth Street was taken into custody after a foot chase, Friday. Bystanders said the man fled on foot with the child’s mother in pursuit of him. An officer also gave chase on foot and caught up to them near Washington Street apartments and reported the man knocked the child’s mother to the ground while he was holding the child. The woman didn’t want to pursue charges, but police told the couple they were filing them anyway. Police said they charged Terrick Grimm, 31, 508 Logan St., Steubenville, with domestic violence.
Risky business: Two people were arguing in the street in the area of Estelle and Jeannette avenues, Thursday. The female said she “was coming to pick up her daughter” and when she found out the male was taking the girl to a relative’s home, pulled her car in front of his to cut him off.
Causing trouble: An anonymous caller reported hearing yelling in a residence in the 3100 block of Johnson Road, Thursday. Police spoke with the occupant who told them “there was no one yelling inside the residence and everything was okay”
Unsanitary: Police were asked to look into a report of “numerous animals … in unsanitary living conditions” in a residence in the 1300 block of Belleview Boulevard, Thursday. The homeowner wasn’t present, but police saw “several dogs jumping at (a) window,” and when they looked inside counted “11 dogs running free” and said the floor “was covered in feces and trash.” They located a family member on Rosswell Avenue who said the homeowner was out of town they were able to contact her, and she agreed to surrender the animals to the Humane Society, police said.
Violent outburst: Dennis Robinson, no age listed, 908 Carnegie St., Steubenville, domestic violence, Wednesday. Robinson allegedly put his hand in the face of a woman who was giving him a ride to cash a check and when she told him to stop, “began to scream at her.” She told police when she told him to stop screaming, he “grabbed her face and raked his fingernails across her face,” then “grabbed the back of her hair while she was (still) driving. She said she stopped the car and when she broke free, he fled on foot. Police said she had “numerous scratches” on her face, nose and neck, some of them bleeding. She asked that charges be filed.
Loaded up: A couple left Rural King with a Dewalt starter kit and a Milwaukee drill set valued at more than $500 that they hadn’t paid for, Saturday. Police were able to track the vehicle they used and spoke with the owner, who said she’d loaned it to “two of her friends” who needed to go to Cashland.
Grudge match: An Adams Street resident said another woman and her daughter “continue to drive past her house and yell threats out the vehicle, window,” Wednesday. On Sunday the woman said she was in the courtyard of a building downtown when the other woman came out and “began harassing her” in violation of a protection order. Police said the other woman told them she was aware of the order but insisted “she only walked past (the woman) to get to her apartment.”
Bad behavior: A woman “caused a disturbance and was yelling obscenities” at the staff at an eldercare facility, Wednesday. Supervisors said the woman was there to take a family member to Columbus for surgery but there was “a miscommunication” that led to the disturbance. The irate woman was allowed to gather some of the resident’s belongings and told she could return during business hours to get the rest.
Refused help: Police were asked to check on a woman in the 200 block of North Seventh Street, Sunday. They said the woman was “sleeping on the sidewalk” but told them “she was OK and didn’t need any assistance.”
Phone dumped: A city resident said he fell asleep at a residence in the 1400 block of Ridge Avenue and when he woke up, his Motorola flip phone was gone, Saturday. He told police he had information that the individual might have been traded for cash at a kiosk in a local store.
Doggie door: A caller reported seeing a pit bull jump out a downstairs window in the the 400 block of Spring Avenue, Friday. The dog was sitting in the yard and the caller believed it to be aggressive, but police said when they pulled up at the residence the dog jumped back into the home. The owner couldn’t be located so police secured the window to keep the dog inside.
Drugs: An apparent overdose was reported in the 1200 block of Lincoln Avenue, Wednesday. Police said the man was on the floor, unresponsive, before Steubenville firefighters administered Narcan to revive him. They said the man was awake but not coherent and was transported to the hospital for further treatment.
Drugs: An unresponsive woman was spotted at the underpass near Langley Avenue and Sunset Boulevard, Wednesday. Police said she was “on the ground, leaning up against a fence, passed out” with a used hypodermic needle near her legs. The woman admitted using fentanyl, so police gave her a drug treatment form.
Money issues: A couple was seen arguing in the 100 block of South Seventh Street, Saturday. The male said they were arguing “because they did not make it to the scrap yard” that day. Police said the woman was already walking in the opposite direction.
Reported: Someone reported hearing shots fired in the vicinity of the 3300 block of Portland Boulevard, Wednesday. Police said there was no one out in the area nor did they see anything to indicate shots had been fired.
Charged: Jessie L. Crawford, 46, 631 E. Market St., Cadiz, petit theft, Thursday. Employees at Wal-Mart allege Crawford “rolled articles of clothing into other articles of clothing and then scanned the exterior piece of clothing before bagging the entire bundle” before trying to leave the store without paying, police reported. Crawford said she “was flustered and pre-occupied with other things and had no intention of stealing,” they reported.
Stuck with her: A Buena Vista Boulevard man wanted an ex-girlfriend who lives in his house removed from the property, Friday. Police told him she’d established residency and if he wants her to leave he’ll have to start the eviction process.
Missing purse: A Wilkins Street resident said she discovered her purse was missing when she got up, Friday. She told police she thinks a family member may have taken it because no one else was in the house when she went to bed.
Cited/arrested: William Kuntz, 247 Mellwood Drive, Toronto, fictitious plates and possession of drugs, a substance believed to be methamphetamine, Wednesday.
Phone snatched: A South Street resident said she put her cell phone in a kitchen drawer before she fell asleep on her sofa and when she woke up in the middle of the night it was gone, Friday.
Damage found: A man doing some work at a property in the 800 block of North Sixth Street said he arrived at the work site that day to find the front door and window damaged and the garage side door was “broken off the hinges,” Friday.
Drugs: An apparent overdose was reported in the 500 block of North Street, Friday. Police said the male was unresponsive until Steubenville Firefighters gave him Narcan. Once he was alert, police gave him a drug treatment form and sent him to the hospital.
Code issue: Notice of violation was sent to owner/occupants of a property at 1042 Main St., high grass/weeds.

Cinthia Lee Steineman, 69,103 Orpha Ave., Weirton, stop sign violation; Christopher Maglione, 31, 720 N. Seventh St., Apt. A-15, Steubenville, open container; Ta’lai A. Fuller, 27, 153 N. Fifth St., Unit 205, Steubenville, driving under suspension; and Jalen J. Minniefield, 18, 446 S. Sixth St., Steubenville, no operator’s license.
