Steubenville Police

Either-or: Police told two people in the 200 block of South Fourth Street they could either separate for the night or go to jail, Thursday. The pair had been arguing, and it admitted it eventually turned physical. The homeowner claimed the female had “knocked over his end table and smacked him in the face,” then after it was over fell and bumped her head. The female said she went to the bedroom to gather her things and said as she was calling police, he “begged her not to …then punched her on the side of her head.” She had a mark on her face and a bump on her head while the male’s face was red. Police said when they told the couple they were both going to be charged with domestic violence if one of them didn’t leave, the female opted to go elsewhere. The male said she had only been staying at his place since she was removed from a family member’s home.

Strongarmed: A resident in the 800 block of North Sixth Street told police a woman entered his apartment while he was sleeping, grabbed his phone so he couldn’t call for help and hit him in the face multiple times until he paid her $20 to leave, Friday. He said he didn’t know how she got into the building, but she’s not permitted on the property, and he wanted the incident documented because he’s facing eviction if he’s observed letting her in the building. Police said he had a bloody lip and a small lump above his eyebrow.

Causing problems: Managers at a fast-food restaurant in the 2000 block of Sunset Boulevard told police college students were causing a disturbance in the lobby and going behind the counter, Sunday. Police were told the students were vaping inside the restaurant and stepped behind the counter. All of them were advised to leave and not return.

Too loud: A caller complained of a loud party in the 1600 block of Ridge Avenue, Sunday. Police said there were several people standing on the front porch and in the yard of the party residence “causing a noise disturbance to nearby neighbors.” The homeowner was notified of the complaint, and he advised the individuals to either go inside or leave. Not long after they left another complaint was logged and that time, the homeowner asked police to enter the residence “to advise all individuals not invited to leave.” Police stood by to make sure they did and reported “numerous individuals” left the property.

Gutsy: Water department employees requested police stand by while they turned the water off at a property in the 700 block of Kendall Avenue, Friday. They said they shut service off recently “but someone (had) turned it back on” without authorization so they wanted police to be on scene to document it “in case they wanted to file charges in the future.”

Booked: Nathaniel C. Longmire, 49, 730 N. Seventh St., Steubenville, possession of drugs, failure to comply with order or signal of a police officer, having weapons under disability and obstruction, Friday.

Starting young: Wal-Mart employees said a juvenile loaded his backpack with items he hadn’t paid for, then fled the store, Saturday. The youth, wearing a white hoodie and red and black pajama pants was carrying the bookbag when he fled the store, and after being chased a short distance several of the items he’d stolen fell to the ground, they said.

Booked: Damion Irizarry, 49, no fixed address, falsification and failure to appear, Saturday. Police were called to a location in the 400 block of South Third Street because a man was refusing to leave the store and realized immediately he had an outstanding warrant. Irizarry allegedly tried to convince police they had the wrong man, attempting several times to use a false first name and date of birth, police said.

Move it or lose it: A woman loitering in the 200 block of North Seventh Street was advised to gather her things, clean up her mess and leave the area, Feb. 6.

Theft: Employees at Kroger reported a woman loaded a cart with merchandise, then tried to leave without paying, Thursday. When the wheels locked up in the lobby the woman grabbed a few items and fled. The merchandise involved was estimated at $150, police said.

Big boom: A resident in the 500 block of North Fifth Street told police he heard a loud bang and when he went outside to investigate, discovered someone had hit his vehicle, Saturday. The mirror was broken on the driver’s side, police said.

Concealed: Employees at Wal-Mart said they watched a man conceal merchandise in a coat he had secured in a shopping cart, Saturday. Allen R. Pannett, 57, 13 Swan Court, Lot 32, Weirton, was cited for petit theft, police said.

Blame game: A male driver ran a red light and crashed into another car at fifth and Washington streets, then jumped out of his car and “began yelling (at the other driver) that this was her fault,” Friday. The female’s vehicle had disabling damage and had to be towed. The male fled the scene but was identified, police said.

Summons issued: Lisa M. Hickle, 44, 347 Patton Ave., Wintersville, petit theft, Saturday.

Code issue: Notice of violation was sent to the owner/occupants of properties at 1105 Park St., litter and garbage pied in front and side yards, along with auto parts and tires.

Feaster, 45, 2356 Chestnut St., Steubenville, assured clear distance ahead following a two-car collision Saturday in the 2800 block of Cleveland Avenue; Pier Giorgio Henry Maria Asci, 18, 607 Granard Parkway, Steubenville assured clear distance ahead following two-car collision Saturday in the 2800 block of Sunset Boulevard; John J. Pavel Jr., 72, 67 Okie Lane, Weirton, assured clear distance ahead after a rear-end collision Friday at the intersection of Seventh and Washington streets; Also, Cole D. Cavarra, 24, Scottsdale, Ariz., red light violation.

Bad reaction: The owner of a rental property in the 800 block of Rinker Road, Wintersville, said he was getting threatening calls from a male he was in the process of evicting “due to his behavior and destruction of the apartment he was renting from him.” The man allegedly assaulted his girlfriend several days previously so he’d changed the locks and secured the building, but the man said he “will burn down the building,” that he would go to the apartment and take what he wanted, and then come slit (his) dog’s throat.”

Contempt: A Tiltonsville resident said a man broke into her apartment and attacked her in violation of a protection order for domestic violence. She said he kicked her bedroom door in and choked her, but she couldn’t talk to deputies in person because she was “at a friend’s drinking.”

Agitated: Well pad workers in the Dillonvale area said an older man “threatened to shoot out the headlights” on their company vehicles with a .308 magnum unless they turned them off and used their parking lights when entering and leaving the property, Feb. 4.

Bothered: A Dillonvale resident said she and her husband were being harassed by their landlord and served notice to leave “for reasons unfounded,” Feb. 4. She said she know it’s a civil matter, but the landlord and his wife had been calling and texting, behaving “extremely aggressive.”

Touchy: A Toronto man said his fiancé hit him after he mentioned how when he was a kid they had to “eat everything on their plate before they get more food or different food” in front of her children, Feb. 13. He said she told him he was “not going to talk to her (teenage) kids like that” and smacked him. Deputies said his face was red.

Robbed: A Wintersville area resident said she returned home to find her front door had been pryed open and she’d been robbed, Feb. 2. She said an Xbox Series X console, an LG 75-inch TV and Roku camera were stolen.
