Steubenville Police
Lovers quarrel: A caller asked police to check on a woman he saw “sitting on the ground crying” in the Hollywood Plaza parking lot, Friday. Police said she told them she was crying because she and her boyfriend “had gotten into an argument over grocery prices and she thought he left her.” They also spoke with her boyfriend, who had come back for her. Both said all was well.
Denial: Police investigating a 9-1-1 hangup call said an Arlington Avenue woman told them she called by accident, but said as they were leaving a male exited the residence “and began yelling at (her),” Friday. They said the male walked back inside with her “and the yelling and screaming continued,” but when they talked to her a second time she insisted she didn’t need their help.
Troubled: A Florida man asked police to contact relatives in Steubenville he claimed had been harassing him and refused to stop calling him, Friday. Police said the couple he’d claimed were harassing him denied the allegations and were able to prove to police they’d made no effort to contact the Florida man. They said he’d been “creating conflict within the family since his mother passed away a few days prior.”
Booked: A Xenia man is facing a charge of disorderly conduct/intoxication after a disturbance was reported in the 1400 block of University Boulevard, Saturday. Police said Henry M. Zink, 21, was held in the Jefferson COunty county jail on an intoxication hold. They allege Zink was yelling for another individual to get away from him, but that man told police he was trying to keep him from walking into the street. Police said Zink told them he was trying to get back to his dorm and claimed the other man and security personnel were “harassing” him because they wouldn’t let him. Police said they had to support him when he stood up and tried to put a shoe back on that had fallen off and reported he smelled strongly of alcohol and his speech was slurred, though he denied needing medical attention or being intoxicated and, when asked his name, refused to identify himself because he didn’t believe he’d done anything wrong. He was taken into custody after they asked him one more time for identification and said he made no attempt to provide it, saying he was “right next to his door and again made no attempt to provide any identification.”
Confused: A downtown resident called 9-1-1 to report someone was hacking her, Friday. When police spoke with her she said her phone was not working properly, then said a long-ago acquaintance was hacking her. They advised her to block all accounts and talk to her phone provider to get help with her phone not working.
