Police reports

Jefferson County Sheriff

Frightened: A teen told deputies she was leaving for school when someone traveling in the opposite direction “kept blocking her from (going past),” then the male driver got out of his car and ran toward her car but she got away, Monday. She contacted her mother who stopped on her way home and took a picture of a car parked at a vacant property that seemed out of place and shared it with her husband, who went looking for it. He said he spotted a man on foot who asked him for a ride to his father’s house and when he asked the man who his father was, “he said ‘You know who my father is’ and kept walking.” Deputies were able to track the individual down with the image she gave them and when they arrived at the house said they could hear him inside screaming, and said when he came to the door he was yelling “let the pigs eat” and darted back toward the door but they intercepted him. A family member said he hadn’t taken his medication for several days, so he was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

Theft: A truck driver was seen removing a section of copper pipe from the old Sammis Plant demolition, Monday. A supervisor said he contacted the driver, who admitted the theft and returned the wire, which was valued at around $100. The company wants to file charges.

Reported: A Richmond area resident reported hearing four gun shots followed by a pause, then four more, Monday. Deputies searched the area but found nothing amiss.

Steubenville Police

Love lost: A Rosswell Avenue resident thinks her ex stole her iPhone 14, Monday. She said he drove to Steubenville and spent the weekend with her but all they did was argue, and after he left she discovered her phone was missing. She told police she used the find my phone app and could see “her phone was not near the residence.” Her ex denied taking her phone and said he was on his way back to Michigan.

Took off: Employees at Walmart told police a juvenile tried to steal liquor from the store, Monday. They said the youth handed the bottle over to employees before he and a friend fled on foot through the parking lot. They said the same juvenile has tried to steal from them twice in the past, but they don’t want to pursue charges since he gave the alcohol up when he was confronted. They do want him banned from the property.

Cited: A man with a propensity for walking into traffic without looking was cited by police when he did it to the same patrolman three times in one day, Monday. John H. Cassels, 49, 441 Henry Ave., was ticketed for failure to use the sidewalk after he stepped into Maxwell Avenue near Plum Street without checking for traffic first. The officer said he nearly hit the man the first two times he did it that day.

Cited, served: Two people were charged with drug violations after police served them with warrants following a traffic stop on Slack Street near Wells, Monday. Police said John Robinson, 60, no fixed address, was booked for probation violation and possession of cocaine after a substance believed to be cocaine was spotted in the center console, while his passenger, Dianna Welling White, 53, no address listed, was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and served with a warrant for contempt of court. Drug pipes and a push rod allegedly were found on the floorboard where White had been sitting, police said.
