Charged: Maryalice M. Tredway, 33, 2490 Cross Creek Road, Colliers, kidnapping, Dec. 12 for taking a child in the custody of another family member.

Charged: Thomas J. Goff, 38, 20 Lindsay Ave., Wellsburg, obstructing an officer, Dec. 17.

Steubenville Police
Big fall: A caller reported a woman in the 100 block of North Fourth Street had fallen and “popped her eye out,” Monday. Police said the woman told them she’d been “drinking all day and went into the bedroom and fell and struck her eye against the window frame.” She had a bloody towel over the eye. Steubenville firefighters transported her to the hospital.
Crowd control: A fight was reported at a residence in the 1500 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Monday. Police said when they arrived one woman was arguing with the male tenant but said the two of them were only arguing and she was not involved in the disturbance. The male said the injured female was in the lower apartment and her assailant was in the upstairs apartment, both of which he rents. The woman who’d been injured said she was upstairs earlier “and was struck several times,” and police said her check and chin were read. Police said they found her alleged assailant hiding in a closet in the upstairs apartment and said she denied involvement. The male told police he didn’t want her on the premises any longer, so she collected some of her belongings and left.
Booked: Tayonna Wade, 28, 925 Logan Avenue, Steubenville, bench warrant, Monday. Police said when they told her she was going to be taken into custody Wade began arguing with a male companion and “grabbed a two-liter bottle of pop and threw the liquid all over (him),” then began “wailing around, kicking and became dead weight.” Officers said they carried her to the cruiser and said she “continued to act belligerent.”
Funny money: A juvenile tried to use a counterfeit $100 bill to order food at a fast-food restaurant, Sunday. Employees said the juvenile left the property once the manager told the juvenile it wasn’t legitimate government tender.
Strange bedfellows: A city resident said she’s being harassed by a woman her husband and children are currently living with, Sunday. She said the woman sent her texts threatening to “whoop her” and to slap her teenage son.
Dallying: A woman who had been asked to gather her things from the basement of a church and stormed out after arguing with members was still there Sunday, refusing to leave. Police found her in the basement, gathering her belongings and said she’d been told to leave and was complying, but police stood by until she was gone.
Thieves strike: A resident in the 400 block of North Fourth Street said two packages had been stolen from the hallway in front of his apartment, Sunday. He said the boxes contained six DVDs and a dress.
Charged: A woman was taken into custody after employees at Wal-Mart claimed they saw her bagging items that hadn’t been paid for, including food, watches, jewelry and hair care products, Sunday. Police said Athena J. Spears, 25, 1940 township Road 134, Dillonvale, was issued a summons for petit theft.
Drunk talk: A woman in the 1500 block of Maryland Avene said a man carrying a “large bottle of alcohol” in the front entryway of her building, behaving strangely, Sunday. The man was looking for two men that the woman knew, but when she told him she didn’t have their phone numbers she said he was “upset and … made a reference about a homicide.” When she asked him what he meant by that she said he “looked around and … stated he may have walked into the wrong house,” then left her building and walked to another.
Booked: Jordan C. Parker, 33, 3336 West St., Weirton, criminal trespass, Sunday. Parker also was served with a bench warrant (Municipal Court.)
Jefferson County Sheriff
Second thoughts: An Adena resident said he allowed a woman he met to stay at his house because she had nowhere to go but noticed she was “taking something and found out she had been lying to him,” Thursday. He said he asked her to leave but when he came home from work, he found her in his bed and needed help getting her out. She told deputies she would have someone pick her up the following morning.
Shoving match: A Wintersville woman said she and her mother got into an argument about her brother, who is incarcerated in another state, Thursday. Both women said an altercation ensued, but each claimed it was the other who was at fault. The daughter said she pushed her mom and then her mother “punched her, then started upper-cutting her.” She claimed she was struck several times. The mother said her daughter pushed her, so she retaliated. The two women decided not to pursue charges.
In a hurry: A flagman working traffic control at a work site on township Road 120 in Dillonvale was struck by a motorist who didn’t think he should have to wait and tried to go past anyway, Friday. The contractor told deputies the motorist “didn’t want to wait a minute or two” and had complained about the road being blocked and implied “he owned the roadway” because he was the one who maintained it.” Information on the incident was turned over to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Car break-ins: A caller reported seeing two men pulling on door handles in the 200 block of Eleanor Street, Mingo Junction. Later a couple reported both of their vehicles had been entered. They said the thieves stole $40 in cash from one vehicle and about $200 in change from another.
