Train stationed: A Steubenville man told deputies his father pulled over to check his mail and ended up getting his vehicle stuck by a train at a railroad crossing on township Road 167, Wednesday. He said he got his father out and tried to free his car but couldn’t, so he went for a winch to extricate the vehicle, but a train got there before he could do anything. Deputies said the train struck the driver’s side rear, spinning the car around. The engineer said he tried to stop but couldn’t. Deputies said the locomotive had minimal damage.
Splitsville: Deputies investigating two hang-up calls from a Wintersville location said it turned out to be a domestic disturbance, Sunday. Deputies said the male was standing by the front door when they arrived and when he saw them, “he went inside the house and yelled at his girlfriend” accusing her of calling police. Deputies asked him to go inside and calm down but instead, the couple “began screaming at each other.” Once they calmed the couple down deputies pulled the man outside and asked him what had happened report he was “very short” with them, eventually stating he believes they are “breaking up” and is just upset. He refused to say more. The female told them they got in each other’s face but nothing physical took place and she’d already called a friend to pick her up. She said they two of them were “basically breaking up and that she may have found someone else.” When her friend arrived to pick her up deputies said the man tried to convince deputies the woman had “beat the (heck) out of him” and claimed there was broken glass throughout the residence, but deputies went through the house with him and “did not observe any broken glass or any signs of an altercation.”
Insecure: A woman said her boyfriend was intoxicated and “kept putting his hands on her,” Friday. She was standing by his car when they arrived and told them he’d agreed to let her take it so she could go home. She said she’s going through a divorce and when her estranged husband kept calling her, it made her boyfriend upset “and he began yelling at her and pushed her, telling her to get out.” She wasn’t interested in filing charges. The boyfriend was intoxicated and said they’d argued, but he denied putting his hands on her and claimed she was also drunk. He said he just wanted her to leave and didn’t want any trouble with her husband.
Pestilence: A man claimed he was talking to his ex when her current boyfriend took the phone away from her and requested a welfare check, Wednesday. Deputies spoke with the woman and her boyfriend, who said the ex won’t leave them alone. Her current boyfriend said he and the ex were involved in an altercation several months ago and they requested the ex be told to stay away from their property.
Loud talkers: A Yorkville resident reported hearing yelling, banging and a female crying at a neighbor’s residence, Friday. Deputies spoke with the woman in the neighboring property, who told them she and her boyfriend had gotten in an argument over “something stupid” and were yelling at each other, but nothing physical took place. She said the banging “could have been from doors slamming.”
Disturbing neighbors: A Tiltonsville resident told deputies he’s having issues with a neighbor, Sunday. He said the woman “drove around his daughter while (she was) intoxicated and proceeded to kick on his front door.” He said he’d called to keep the situation from escalating and said the argument started over the neighbor “turning off the wifi that (he) had helped pay for.” Deputies told him it was a civil issue.
Threatened: A Steubenville area resident reported receiving messages on Facebook from what he believes is a fake profile, Thursday. He said he’s received messages saying, “I hope you die” and “I know where you work.”
